Drive Bender - Anyone used it?

Hey all,

Anyone used "Drive Bender" for Windows? I've been looking around for a decent drive management program that will allow me to shove hard drives together, and have some sort of security if one of them fails.

That's easy... but I also want the ability to swap out hard drives when I'm upgrading them. That's where the RAID situation becomes a little more difficult.

I'm using Drive Bender on a trial at the moment on my Windows 7 HP Microserver (N40L), but I'm not 100% sure it's all setup right. It's working how I imagined, but it feels like it was too easy and I'm afraid when I come to buy a bigger hard drive and want to upgrade, it won't let me :p

Really I need a program that will tell me exactly how it is; "2 Drives Installed - Total Space: ____ - Ability to swap out when old: YES - Ability to have you data safe if one drive dies: YES" :p

Anyone got any advice?

Thanks,

Marky

Is it just a mirror you're after? What version of Windows you running?

Not really a complete mirror - something like RAID which uses parity (that may be wrong - I'm a total RAID newb :p) Just want to get the most space out of my hard drives and be a little more safe than RAID0 and have the ability to swap out drives when I like.

From what I understand, which is very very little, isn't Drive Bender more of a drive pooling tool with a dash of RAID 1 thrown in for mirroring....?

Wouldn't FlexRAID be a preferred option...?

....which can offer the drive pooling features and the possibility of a RAID 5 type redundancy (RAID F)...?

Don't take my meagre understandings as any sort of endorsement but just have a look and read of what FlexRAID can offer you.

Yeah I think the idea behind Drive Bender is it takes all your hard drives, turns it into one drive and makes a mirror of everything you put on the drives. This is fine, expect I think I heard with certain RAID levels - this can be achieved but with even less space used as it isn't a full mirror, just redundancy.

Thanks for the link - Certainly looks interesting! I'll research a bit into it and maybe give it a go instead :)
