....then why are accounts based on the Mafia? An illegal organisation responsible for the murders of thousands of people and making millions of dollars through criminal activity?

Commissarios for example use John Gotti's picture. Are we saying we should be looking up to men like Gotti, a convicted murderer and racketeer?

Don't get me wrong, I'm no Mary Whitehouse but I just find it odd that a forum that is obsessed with banning the most minor of swear words, and even banning 'fracking' being used as a pun, thinks having high level mods pictured with characters from 18 certificate films, wielding firearms fits in with the 'family friendly' mantra.

I know the Mafia talked a lot of about 'family' but that was a different kind.

As I said, I'm no Mary Whitehouse (I would rather it wasn't family friendly and people could swear within reason) and wouldn't care about the mafia theme either if it wasn't for what I sense is a bit of an hypocrisy when I see things like the fracking thread get starred out.

He sort of has a point. There are lots of things about these forums and the modding of them which don't make sense, but ultimately it is paid for and run by the owners how they see fit. No one is forced to browse here of course, I'm sure there are other forums people can go to should the avatars distress them.

I don't care about the gangster images and it's not that family friendly I agree with swearing though as we should try to raise our game on these forums. I'd suspend people for using text speak as well.
