Issue with WMC.. May have to move to XBMC.. And negatives?

Yes, there are lots of themes, and you can choose wallpapers for different sections, as well as using fanart etc

LiveTV is only just coming into the main development stream, you will be wanting Frodo (version 12) Beta 1 for any LiveTV stuff

Internet radio
Loads of Add-Ons for loads of different internet radio

Media browser.. Will it accept this application for displaying meta data from blu ray and dvd rips, displaying cover art and synopsis etc
It does this natively, once you install one of the many different scraper AddOns

Music player from mp3s again with metadata (WMC wasn't good with this)
Does this much better than WMC, again, does it natively (once you add a scraper)

3d blu ray playback from isos (i have a plugin for WMC that uses tmt 5)
Not sure on this one - but I remember seeing something in the Frodo notes about Blu-Ray playback


I now have XBMC running on 2 machines in the house, and have a shared MySQL database on my WHS box, so that both machines (and any I subsequently add) will all share the same library and Watched States etc. Also, I can be watching a video on one PC, stop it, and go to the next PC and resume playback from the same point! (Useful when watching a film but want to head to bed)

I have just been reading about XBMC and it's recent 12b3 release.

Looks like I might give it a go.

I'm very interested In what you have done particularly with the sharing side. I don't expect to share live tv obviously but would be very keen on the syncing especially to mobile!

My soon to be setup will be 2 pc's (one Htpc and one main pc) and the other devices like phones and tabs all connected to a whs Microserver.

I'd very much like to do what you have but am scratching my head at the moment

You keep the same guide but the channel numbering is handled in the DVBLogic TV source software. Here's a video of my actual setup


There is a trial of the software so you can always see if it gives you what you want!

I'll put a thread together with my full setup over the next couple of days :) XBMC/home theatre threads are something that is seriously lacking on this forum!
 
I have XBMC on my atv2 in the fornt room and running XBMCbunutu on anetbook in my bedroom.

All films/TV shows on a NAS. mysql database on nas so I can resume playback of a film a i started watching downstairs, up stairs.

it's sooo awesome my simple mind can't muster the correct words to describe it!
