Pictures of the new 217bhp Skoda Octavia vRS have been leaked online

The first grainy pictures of the next Skoda Octavia vRS have emerged on a Czech car forum. The vRS images appear to be screen grabs from a configurator or similar website, and show what looks like a virtual rendering of the next performance flagship Octavia.

The images reveal that the new Octavia vRS will feature a similar approach to the existing car, with subtle styling additions that include more aggressive bumpers with LED daytime running lights at the front, and trapezoidal twin exhausts at the rear.

Propeller-style five-spoke alloys are also shown, covering brakes which now feature red-painted calipers, while there is a small wing on the boot lid.

Under the bonnet is expected to be the latest EA888 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that will also be fitted to the VW Golf GTI, which produces 217bhp – up from the 197bhp in the current Octavia vRS.

A 2.0-litre diesel version is also expected, along with a choice of saloon and estate bodystyles, and a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearboxes.

The standard Skoda Octavia hatch is due to arrive in the UK in March, the estate follows in May, while the first vRS cars are due to arrive in the UK in July, priced from around £22,000.

Does ocuk approve or disapprove?

Don't know why but the Skoda badge still puts me off. Can't explain it.

Cracking car, for a bargain amount of money. Will be worth pennies for a 3 year old example when the time comes too...

Looks really smart, wonder if they will offer a 4x4 drivetrain? Probabally not mind you!

Looks ok, under powered though and bet it will weight some.

weighs less than the current and 20bhp more

it weighs less than the mk1 apparently with some models having up 107 kilos shaved off them thanks to VAGS new platfrom and higher tensile panels

they hold their value pretty well

I paid 16 and a bit for my facelifted one and got 10k part ex after 2 years and 10 months against a new alfa, that was a petrol, diesels have better residuals

not a fan of the black and white mind...but the door caps in body colour would have a bit of s-line whiff about them
