Hi all what PHYSX Card would be best?

I am wanting to get a card dedicated for PhysX,

Can anyone please tell me which card on the overclockers website with the gpus that are avaible is best to buy?

Please no "don't buy one no need" I am just wanting to know which one is best.

My budget for this will be £80.

The GTX 650 is probably the best bet, considering it offers slightly more grunt than the 7750, and if you go for one of the bus-length models, it would mean it will not restrict as much airflow to your top card thus better temp as well. However, it does still require one PCI-E 6pin.
 
It's still irrelevant if it's being used for PhysX, there's absolutely no way to give a meaningful comparison because it's not used for pushing out frames, so how a 650 compares to a 7750 in pushing frames doesn't matter.

Not really, see my above post. There really isn't a meaningful comparrison because AMD cards can't do PhysX and we're talking about PhysX performance. How well each does pushing frames doesn't matter at all.

For example, it's just as much use comparing a 2900XT to a GTX650.

My take on what Marine was saying was that he should consider a 650 as it is not a bad card and it measures up against a 7750 in general so it should be ok for PhysX only

But meh, I suppose everyone will read from it what they will :)
 
I don't think Marine was saying anything "bad" or wrong, I certainly didn't read anything of the kind in to it.

Just rather it doesn't matter, I should have also mentioned that GPU grunt doesn't necessarily indicate compute/PhysX performance especially so with the 6 series, with the GTX5 series being better at compute tasks than the 6 series despite a 6 series GPU being overall faster in terms of FPS.

I thought PhysX performance is more to do with just the number of CUDA cores or gaming grunt rather than compute capability...does anyone has an article or review that clarify the matter?

But either way, I don't think it make any changes to the GTX650 being the most sensible choice, with power consumption and card size considered...

Ughh there should be a law against nVidia calling the stream processors "CUDA Cores" :p

Speaking of CUDA though, that's what PhysX is ran through, and CUDA performance on the 6 series is lesser than the 5 series on a per stream shader basis.
 
CUDA cores are clock for clock core for core faster than the stream processors that amd use.

so there really is no need to call them cheap and nasty stream processors or shaders, Compute Unified Device Architecture Cores is the correct term to use.
 
640 as its single slot and down have and extra power requirements on the pci-e bus so less the 150w load

Also means you could run it easy with a sli set up and a sound card.
