hi guys can anyone help me out , i bought sfxt last night but i cannot work out how the hell you are spose to setup the joystick.

its asking me to assign more buttons that are on my joystick

wont let me save or do anything, also wont let ya use the keyboard keys either.

any ideas?

thanks.

If its asking to asign more buttons than are on your joystick then you may have to play without some buttons. You need 6 buttons to perform all the inputs. light medium heavy punch and kick.

What joystick do you have, as it it setup correctly in windows control panel?

Pick up one of the Madcatz specific Fighter Playstation 3 pads as the dpad on the general 360 pad is useless for fighters. Shopto sell the madcatz/capcom pads for about 15 quid so not expensive. The PS3 pads and sticks are usb so work without a problem.

Getting a Madcatz pad is bloody risky, had one for the Ps3 and it blew the big one, the shoulder buttons broke after about a day and the pad feels horrendous to use. Imagine a N64 controller on steroids, then attach it to the back of a car and to use it you have to carry the car, that's almost as bad as it was. Their fight sticks are great though, so maybe the fight pads don't suck so bad.

Still though, looks like the dude wants to use an arcade stick, so we gotta fix this for him as those things don't cost over a hundred smackers for nothing.

Sorry you had bad luck with your pad. Unlucky:( The style of the pad, well they are modeled on The Japanese Saturn pads which were, until now, the best fighter pads in existence:)

The Madcatz competitive pads/sticks are good. Especially the sticks with their Sanwa sticks and buttons. The FGC have both Seth Killian and MarkMan to thank for affordable high quality sticks. But if he is just gonna dabble in a bit of SFXT then it is hard to recommend him to spend £140 on the VS stick. I think it would end up being a waste of money.

I'm not sure how the dude is struggling for buttons since the standard is 3/3 or 4/4 buttons. Maybe a 360 wire pad then and live with the dodgy dpad if he doesn't like the looks of the specific Capcom pad.

Thinking about it now, have you actually made sure Keyboard 1 + 2 have all their buttons assigned? Annoying as it is, SFxT is the same as SSF4 in that you can't finish mapping keys at all until Keyboard 1,2 and the gamepad keys are all bound to something.

I think he already has a stick doesn't he? Not sure what people mean by joysticks these days. If they mean something like the thing you fly helicopters with, then playing any fighting game with them is nuts. :p

its really not, I have two and have had them since they released them for SF4 - one ps3 one and one 360 never had any issues with either.

Mine wasn't a fight pad, it was a general gaming pad for the Ps3 loosely based on the design of the Ps3 pad, and it broke almost beyond use after a day. :p

Only thing I've got from them so it's abit of a put off tbh.

i have a madcatz tournament stick the small type with sanwa stick and buttons.

it wont let me unbind keys for some reason is there a way of doing it ?

also i thought the keyboard actions were different from the joystick in game?
