Games like GTA...open world city?

I've been playing Sleeping Dogs after picking it up while it was on sale on the PS Store and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. The only thing that saves the game for me is the hand to hand combat. The city feels bland as hell, there are no interesting areas at all, on PS3 the draw distance is terrible and the graphics are really muddy which totally breaks any sort of immersion as you can often only see a few metres in front of you while driving.

Which takes me onto probably the worst part of the game, the physics are absolutely atrocious, you can press square to ram other cars which seems to turn your vehicle into a heat seeking missile, both speed wise and destructivity wise, the cars can all turn on a dime and motorobikes seem to grant you the ability to ram into pretty much anything without even losing balance. It's one of the worst open world games I've played this generation, the whole thing feels like a complete mess. That, and there's absolutely nothing that tells you whether you're advancing the main story, or whether you're just doing a side mission, apart from the obvious "favours" that they've added into the game. The talent on offer in regards to voice acting is pretty impressive, it's a shame the actual dialogue is rubbish though, feels like they shorehorned Chinese phrases into sentences for no reason other than they can.

Just seen the trailer for Saints Row The Third...and watched 10 minutes of gameplay...WOW haha! :D

Saints Row 3 is awesome. Totally mental and loads of fun. It's also Hilarious.
Have you played the Infamous games? They're both open world ish and great fun.

Saints row the third is such a stupid and fun game :D!

As long as you don't take it too serious you'll love it! The 'penetrator' aka big floppy ***** is a funny weapon :D

I hated SR3, pure crap. The 'humour' smacked of trying too hard, visually disappointing, terrible controls, completely broken vehicle handling that makes LA Noire look like Gran Turismo, and rather naff missions, most of which (for a good part at the beginning at least) are just "Go here and do this lame mini-game".

Once GTA5 arrives, Saints Row will once again return to being surplus to requirements.

I've just completed Red Dead Redemption for the first time. Absolutely cracking game with a great story. Perfect sandbox game for you if you've not already played it.

Not a city admittedly but GTAesque in every other way!

I did really enjoy RDR, the only thing that annoyed me was the unnecessarily large amount of time it took to travel virtually everywhere. Setting up a campfire to fast travel wasn't a great solution either because you have to watch the stupid animation twice and go into a menu to do it. :p
