hey guys..

i am building a new system and need a bit of help..
This PC will be used to play latest games, recording and rendering videos. watching movies in 3D (Nvidia Vision 2) etc...

first of all i have already decided which Graphic Card am going for and that is MSI GeForce GTX 670 OC Twin Frozr Power Edition.. i am looking to properly watercool the CPU.. unless you think H100 will do the job better.. let me know

I have not installed watercooling equipment before only used H60 and H100.

I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me build this system

Requirements:
SSD:128GB or less
HDD: 2TB
RAM: 16GB
CPU: Ivy Bridge i7
GFX: MSI GeForce GTX 670 OC Twin Frozr Power Edition

some extra Info:
i will only install OS and programs on SSD so 120GB would do...
HDD needs to be 2TB as i will be recoding/rendering videos for youtube.
case: am kinda liking the Corsair Obsidian 800D but if the budget doesnt cut it i will go with HAF X instead.

so reading between the lines, you know most of your spec you would like and Don't own a operating system im i right?

and also i can't see a budget limit?

so it looks like you just want opinions on what water cooling system to get really?

not a problem if im correct in all above ^^

something pre built or or just parts?

^^ etc

Total : £1,379.90 (includes shipping : £12.50).

But really with your budget, you're better off proposing a build, and we'll come around and tweak it or suggest alternatives. And if you want to go water cooling, there's a whole forum dedicated to that. IMO, you might as well start with air cooling, see how you get on, but it's best to start with a case that will give you decent water-cooling support.

EDIT : shopping basket tools in my sig.

i so far like ConnorJoshua's build but since i dont need the monitor, mouse and OS.. where can we use that money? is Asus Sabertooth any better? if not its ok.. just wanted to know ;)

also the main site is not loading for me.. so will check when i get back tonight.

Main site is broken. The Sabertooth is a popular board. It does SLI / XFire, looks good, and has more overclocking headroom (comparing to the Z77-D3H). It's overpriced though. The UP4 does what most of the high-midrange boards do, plus Thunderbolt support.

You can spend money on the PSU maybe, the RAM, and if you go over 16GB, WIn 7 / Win 8 pro (for over 16GB support). Maybe a 256GB SSD (Samsung 830 or 840 pro).

thanks to you feedback/help guys.. i have managed to get this together..

Do i need to make any adjustments? did i miss anything? any tweaks? I will be adding the extra Fans and thermal paste (if needed) later...

Not really. It's a good set. Case , PSU, motherboard, cheaper alternatives, but that's just me.

The PSU has black sleeved cables (looks neat), and will SLI the cards, and you'll have no problem overclocking that CPU or watercooling in that case.

I'd spend a little more on the RAM though. No point pussy-footing with that budget. I like the Corsair stuff.

hey guys.. any comments on above system?
wanna order it this weekend.

thanks

Well... Yeah, Your not really getting the best for your money.

That case is HUUGE, its great for custom loop rigs and Tri-SLI system but will be huge overkill for you. The 650D is just as good, smaller and much cheaper.

Not a huge fan of Asus motherboards and really thats a bit pricey compared to some of the gigabyte and msi motherboards around at the moment.

Power supply is okay, but seasonic and silverstone have some really great PSU's at super competitive prices, well worth a look.

You should really get a better make of RAM, seeing as your spending that much..

This is what id go with:

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 670 OC Twin Frozr Power Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £305.99
1 x Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £259.99
1 x Corsair Obsidian 650D Gaming Midi Tower - Black £149.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £129.98
1 x Silverstone Strider Plus 750W Modular '80 Plus Silver' Power Supply (ST75F-P) £104.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (Socket 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £94.99
1 x Corsair XMS3 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX16GX3M2A1600C11) £79.99
1 x Samsung 128GB SSD 830 Series SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive - (MZ-7PC128B/WW) £76.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) £74.99
1 x OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £14.99
Total : £1,309.39 (includes shipping : £13.75).

Compared to your build the performance would be exactly the same, though the corsair ram is a good overclocker (if that interests you).

Oh, and mines £170 Cheaper... Night out on you. :)

i like Gigabyte Z77-D3H but it only has 2 SATAIII connections.. i will be needing one more as i will be adding another HDD.

so i still havent decided on the mobo but made some changes to other stuff...
decided to ditch the 800d
now just have to choose between HAF X & 650D - any suggestions on these to make it a bit easier to decide?

this is what i have so far (removed optical drive for now)

anyone used Sabertooth with H100i? does the armor thing get in the way of H100i in any way?

on official website it says it has 2x S3 slots and 2x S3 with 3rd party controller does it have any better or lower performance compared to the default?
does it make any difference having 3rd party controller? can i still use HDD on 3rd party slots like i normally would on default ones?

sorry for too many questions

thanks for the help so far guys.

i know its weekend and i am asking too many questions lol

but thanks again for helping me out

thanks for the help guys.. i've been running this system over 20+ Days now and everything is running fine (had some issues with graphic card but getting that replaced).

still feel like i should have gone for proper water cooling for some reason (maybe cause they look so damn cool).

i will post some pics once i have got my replacement card.
