userbase being small for a WinPho? oh give me a break. userbase for driod is small as it is and they develop for it (yes I know its a google product but still...its a fact)

another reason to have a dig at MS. Oh, and did you know google uses C# and .NET both MS technologies, to do their development?

think about that. Check and mate.

If you can't find Whatsapp... As usual they make it ****tier with each update, I could send screenshots a week ago.

You can't talk about biased writing if you also choose to be biased yourselves....

Google have always historically performed spring cleans on its array of products and services and whilst their discontinuation of Google Sync does affect Windows Phone users, that's because Windows Phone does not support CalDAV or CardDAV, unlike Google or Apple who do.

Also, in regards to "sticking the boot" or "throwing sand", Microsoft has probably been the biggest culprit of doing this with their #droidrage and smoked by Windows Phone campaigns. It was recently stated in an interview that the reason Google do not develop for Windows Phone is because of the user base being so small, majority of users are using iOS and Android which is backed up by the fact Google have many applications on iOS.

As for Google being based on Microsoft ideas and products.... I don't think I've read anything so silly in all my life. It was Microsoft who had to completely re-base their search and email products to try and keep up with Google (i.e outlook.com and Bing).

This.

Google are opting to go for open standards instead of the Microsoft controlled Exchange ActiveSync and if anyone thinks this is a bad thing they are blinded. It's Microsoft's fault for wanting to peddle their outdated and overpriced products onto people.

Seriously what now? Android is fast approaching on becoming the most used OS on the PLANET. Yes the userbase of Android is going to overtake the userbase of Windows (desktop, server, phone, etc.) soon. Welcome to the new world where Microsoft is a dwindling, ever-irrelevant tech company.

The user base of Android completely dwarfs that of Windows Phone

Q3 2012 market shares:
Android: 75%
Windows Phone: 2%

Regarding your point around C# and .NET, that doesn't mean they wouldn't exist. Your original argument was around their ideas and products:

cos the backbone and ideas are from MS and others just take it/alter it and brand it

Not sure how the backbone and ideas came from Microsoft as Google made its fortunes in areas that Microsoft didn't really operate in such as search and advertisement networks. Pre-Google, the popular and most commonly used search engines were AltaVista, Lycos, Excite, Webcrawler, Metacrawler and Dogpile.

hi, anyone know the best place to get a 920 on pay as you go ie buy the phone outright or failing that the best monthly deal just went in phones4u and it was £36 a month with the wireless charger.

thanks

Message Thread - 'Read only message'

Hi,
Noticed a message thread in texts does not let me reply anymore. Just says 'read only message' where the text should be input ?

It's definitely a text msg thread...not FB or messenger.

It's almost like the thread reached an expiry date???

Thanks

Have developed a small thing with mine, on the plastic just between the power button and the shutter button im getting a rather noticeable "creeking" sound like the plastic is flexing a little and can feel some vibration as I make it happen, doesn't require a lot of force to make this happen either, also the power button seems to have recessed a little into the case, but still works just fine, im assuming these are not grounds to get a replacement though?

Mine started doing the exact same thing last week but it seems to have gone now.

Really?...same spot?...it seems the plastic at the back is just thinner as it creeks back and forth a little form the side to the back.

Sad to see there are a few in this thread determined to pull it down into the same old, never changing, never ending X is better than Y argument we see in every other phone thread.

Agreed, I literally scan over posts now and ignore those ones. This thread is for people who are interested in the 920 and interesting in helping others get the maximum enjoyment out of their phone. Glad to see that most are on the same advising/assisting wavelength.

indeed.

ok, so I found a bug in one of the games on the xbox live on the WP8. a game called "Extraction". only 79p and seems a decent game (for me anyway!). not sure where to report it though.... basically at some point (not through a sequence of events) it just exits all by itself during game play!

Yeah I've found the same problem with extraction. There is a link to report a concern to Microsoft when u go back into it's listing on the app store and there is an option to highlight re: poor performance but apart from that I'm at a loss as well.

can the 920 be configured to go to silent when it's on the wireless charging base station? in a similar way to the bb turning into nightstand mode?
