Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a Dell U2713HM.

Thing is at the moment I've got one 7850 2GB that doesn't clock too well ... 1100MHz on the core at 1.09V. A higher voltage overwhelms the little HIS cooler :(

If I got another I think I should be ok ... but my question is should I sell my current 7850 and get another 670?
I'm not bothered about power consumption or heat production - my case is fine.

Also, would my stock i7-920 bottleneck the perf at that res. too much? I can't overclock on the current motherboard (Acer M7720 / foxconn FX58M) but as far as I'm aware there are 2 PCI2.0 x16 lanes.

Thanks in advance, Nick

This is a better idea

Hmm, yeah, there's a lot to consider really ...

I was thinking just to scrap it all and get a new mobo/cpu/gpu/screen summer 2013, but I'm going to uni in September so won't get as much use out of the rig when I'm there. Better to use it over the summer and beforehand whilst I still can.

Would one 7950/70 be much (much) worse than 2 7850s @1100 core?

Would you say http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/515?vs=618 is a fair comparison of the two setups? 7850 being about equal to a 6970 when OC etc..

Hmm, may as well get a 7970 then :D

Which should I go for?
It's hardly the biggest consideration, but I'd like one that doesn't have "upside down" text on the side of the card (my case is inverted so the fans are facing upwards)

Get yourself a 7950, they all overclock well and easily so you'll notice no difference between a 7950 and a 7970 but you'll have an extra £70+ in your wallet/bank account.
