Merry Christmas :D

Love winter, love a bit of snow but really dislike the tradition of Christmas. Bitterness more than anything - When I was a child, Christmas was largely spent observing drunken arguments, fighting and breaking of things. Perhaps it'll be different when I have kids!

I dislike Christmas which seems to start sometime mid October, I enjoy Christmas Day though. But the whole Christmas thing is too much.

This is one of many threads where all responses should be accompanied by the poster's age. Because I suspect you'll see a pretty clear correlation: as you get older, you like it less. It will reach a peak at about age 10, fall off slowly until 35, with a brief spike of happiness when you have young children, and then it's more and more dislike until you reach my age (51) where it has become festering hatred. Bah humbug.

Throw in a touch of arthritis so that the Winter (which I actually used to enjoy) is now a time of increasing pain and suffering and the picture is complete!:(

I can't do with Christmas but will take part in festivities and I won't sit there with a mood on (I also don't moan about what people post on Facebook).
Christmas Day was more enjoyable when the kids were younger.
I used to enjoy the extra gig money when I played the 4 major nights but a couple of my band mates won't do the major nights because they have young kids.

I'm not religious at all but I love Christmas because it's pretty much the only time in year when you get to see all your family, friends and loved ones as most people have time off work. It's one of the few times I get to see both my brothers together for a start, none of us live in Plymouth anymore, I live in another country, one bro lives elsewhere in the UK and the other just came back from Afganistan.

If Christians feel that it is hypocritical for others to take their celebration and use it to celebrate what they want then maybe they forget that they appropriated the traditional winter festivals like Yule and Modraniht to celebrate Christmas.
Winter and December in particular has always been a time of celebration for all beliefs and customs. Celebrate it how you want, if you feel it's too commercial or money is short then don't participate in that side of things, just use it to spend time with family, friends and loved ones. If it's stressful then it's because you make it that way, just relax and do what you want at a pace you want. If that means not going to parties, sending cards, meeting friends and instead playing on your computer for a week then knock yourself out.

Each year it makes me grumpy.

It's always cold, stressful, and just stupidly busy

What you describe is the high street/shopping centres at this time of year.

I hate how expensive it is, and the pressure to spend spend spend on what most likely will be unwanted gifts. The GF and me have a gift budget of £30 this year and my family are only getting gifts for the kids (my 3 nieces) so it should be a cheap one this year... I hope! :p

But I love Christmas, eating too much and then getting drunk with your family... what could be better! :D
