Now that I have a new kitchen and bathroom installed with lots of new chrome taps and fittings, I want to avoid scratching stuff up with abrasive creams and harsh chemicals. Can anyone recommend a product for when chrome, aluminium sinks, ceramic washbasins get dried on dirt or a layer of soap scum that fairy liquid won't remove? Today I used fairy liquid and a sponge to remove grime and odd layers of sealant excess (from the builders who fitted it) stuck to the new white wash basin but it was difficult and I used my fingers to scrape some of it.
I heard cillit bang is good but is it abrasive or does it have harsh chemicals?

WD40 shifts a lot of grime and sticky stuff from any polished chrome/metal, no abrasives in it at all and nothing to hurt the chrome chemical wise.

just use your usual bathroom/kitchen cleaner.
If the taps lose their chrome plating that fast then I will be forced to use the old 'buy cheap, buy twice' adage. In this case though I am assuming you didn't buy cheap and that there will be no issue.
