downgrading fom 1000w to 850w

pc spec

i7 2600k overclockerd to 4ghz
4x ddr3 ram
gtx 680
6 hard drives
blu ray player
8 low speed fans
as rock p67 fatality pro mobo
liang ddc1 pump
asus dx sound card

my coolermaster 1000k 5y old psu is whining a bit ( coils i think ) want to rpelace it with a new psu a be quiet or failing that a seasonic would i be ok with a 850w, i used the psu calculator tool but be quiet recommend a psu thats only using 50%-75% max constant power.

You could run that off a 600-700W PSU quite easily if you wanted. What sort of budget are we talking?

XFX XXX 850w/750w will suit you perfectly. 850w is cheaper for some reason but it's out of stock.

P.s I've never heard my PSU fan at all and no whine.

thanks budget upto £150 ish just wanted a 5y warranty, the xfx look ideal what are they like when loaded i had a ocz and it was so noisey under load i had to send it back.

Mainly because OcUK covers the whole warranty so you don't have to send it back to the manufacturer

+1 for the Seasonic great PSU and as Bacon said having OcUK deal with the warranty is a massive bonus.

If you would like the save some cash though the XFX is still a wonderful PSU and is also made by Seasonic.

I would go for the Seasonic as well, under low loads the PSU is silent, the fan only starts up when the PSU is under heavier load.
