Location
Amsterdam, NL
Got a ton of Avios points that I want to spend up.

So yea, anyone know of any sweet locations to take weekend trips to? Such as leave Friday afternoon, return Sunday.

Recently been to:

  • Amsterdam
  • 's-Hertogenbosch - Amazing! Stayed with a friend I met in India, she took me out for a few drinks. The atmosphere in that town is amazing. Strongly suggest a weekend break away here!
  • Munich
  • Stockholm

So yea, I'm thinking maybe Paris this weekend coming? Then after the holidays, January could be a couple, maybe Rome?

Or maybe a weekend in Switzerland?

I'm not a conventional hotel booker, more of a back packer hostel type of guy. Anyone wanting to tag along, by all means ask. Depending on the area, chances are I will be staying with friends I have met out and about, so nice and cheap :) Good old sofa surfing.

Who knows, any ideas guys?

In Italy, Rome, Florence or Venice will make a pleasant break.

I'd wait until at least Spring though.

Really looking for a late winter break really. Going to Prague in February and Barbados in March to stay with my dad for a couple of weeks as he has just moved out there.

So yea, really only January is on the cards.

Lisbon is beautiful. Amazing food, wonderful people, 2.5 hour plane journey. Oh and about 15-18'C temps during Dec!

Krakow

Venice is also a good shout, as there's not actually a huge amount to do

Krakow - What a shout! Looking at winter pictures now, amazing! Some real history in the town as well! Tons of attractions, stunning settings. SOLD!

Right, that's 1 weekend done... Still unsure about Venice, think it would be all gloom this time of year no?

Valencia has some interesting architecture, somewhere I would like to go one day.

Prague
Bruges for something romantic
I'd save Switzerland until the summer unless your into skiing/boarding, could happily spend a week just walking in the mountains and swimming in lakes :)

Krakow is a great place but you really do need to spend 2/3 full days to get the most out of the place.

Lisbon is interesting and has the advantage of being on UK time. Bruges/Paris are close and good for a weekend.

Decided on Krakow for now, booking hostel and flights tonight.

Any suggestions people? Where to stay, where to go?

Will be a 2.5 days (flying early Friday, depart late Sunday). So yea, Saturday would be awesome to go out and experience a few bars and such.

Also into my photography, anywhere beautiful?
