:(

Due at the dentist at 3:00 today.
Having 2 fillings and a cracked tooth reconstructed.

2 hours it will take.... :(

I don't mind though because i had a long RC treatment the other week i just hope this NHS dentist is as good as the Private one I'm used to.. I ran out of money so couldn't afford the £350 for private treatment.

What are you're experiences like with NHS dentists?

Terrible, they broke 3 of my teeth & dislocated my jaw then when I complained all the nurses ganged up on me & gave me a kicking. Serves me right for mixing with the Peasants at the NHS ward. :(

I've had a torrid time with NHS dentists this year, one emergency dentist I saw on a Saturday morning I swear was half-cut. It doesn't inspire a great deal of confidence when you can feel her hand shaking in your mouth as she's about to start drilling and she's humming away to an Abba song on the radio!

As it happens she drilled in the wrong place on one of my teeth, which I found out a few months later when I managed to find a decent dentist. It cost me a fortune even though it was NHS as I had to have a root canal and a crown fitted.

Probably not want you want to hear right now though :D

You should expect to get the same standard of treatment. Just because its NHS shouldn't make any difference at all. Regardless of if you have a tooth removed or have a filling or a scale and polish it should be done to a high standard. Just because you pay an absurd amount of money to a private dentist it doesn't mean they are any better. My dentist is NHS and he is fantastic, of course i cant compare to a private practice but i doubt i would get a better service ! There are good dentists and bad dentists.............

I've been going private in the last 2 years and the service has been 10 times better then an NHS one. I swear my teeth are overall healthier as well. I go to SmilePod

Curious, so how are they better ? Im assuming that they do things that your previous NHS dentist didn't ?
Do they do fillings better, extractions less painful, dental hygienist better at cleaning your teeth ? I'm just struggling to understand how going private can be better than a good NHS dental practice.

Since i bought my electric tooth brush i swear my teeth are overall healthier as well :D

Bloody terrible, Just had two teeth out a week ago. I'm all infected to hell have been on 3 different anti biotic's and still can't eat solid foods atm. All for him not putting a stitch in at the time of extraction. Going to be a great Christmas I feel.

For me i never had a extraction or filling yet (36 yrs old now touch wood) But i would go for a check up and clean. He would spend just a few seconds checking my teeth and then hardly cleaning it and left a lot of plaque behind. Seemed like a lazy bugger and i was wondering if he was deliberately leaving my teeth to rot so he can charge me for extraction. Changed NHS dentist and i was getting the same experience

Went private and she did an amazing job. she was removing loads of plaque between the teeth and the gum that was there for years and starting to cause mild gum disease. Very painful but much much better after. She also did a teeth cleaning with mini water jets at the end so instead of a rough finish is was smooth and lovely! My teeth felt so good after and in the end it was only a little more expensive.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Stitches don't stop infection chum.

Question 1, did it bleed after the event?
Question 2, did you stop the bleeding in the manner you were told to?
Question 3, do you smoke?

The bleed stopped when I was there, I don't smoke. Removing the tooth left a hole in my sinus. The dentist told me he should have stitched it at the time. So go **** off with your HAHAHA..

Removed the haha
You've an oral-antral fistula? Caused by the extraction.
Big sympathies there, if the clot formed correctly at the time, it should have had a similar effect to stitching.

Any cold at the time, any noseblowing after?
Were you counselled in relation to this?

Has the fistula now been closed?

He had a right job getting the tooth out, apparently it left a big hole. It was infected when he took it out, can trust you the full story if you like.

just had 2 white fillings done. one pretty small and one deep and also got a crown put on all for £210 which took 2 sittings but feels okay so far. feels like a new set of teeth lol. scale and polish too

I really need to get to one of these but don't have any money!

Not been to a dentist for over 14years

My dentist seems to do fine but does have a habit of trying to get me to go private when I'm an NHS patient and it would be free rather than £894273498. I went NHS on one of the few procedures I have and I can't tell the difference. Neither can anyone else who has seen them (The dentist did seem to make out they would stain etc. if I got it done on the NHS)
