In some ways I was really sad it was gone, to me its the perfect MX5 in most ways, and whilst I am sure I would have been able to bargain with the insurance companies for a decent sum from them, it would only of been enough to put me in another MX5, which wouldn't have all the mods that this one does.

The only silver lining is that I would have been forced to hurry up and change it, and I was looking at S2000's over the weekend and looking forward to purchasing one, but now I have YOG back I am in no rush again, which is better I think. Especially as I don't even know I do want an S2000 and have umm'ed and ar'd about it for almost a year now. Too busy saving up for a second property to justify it at the moment and the only good thing I could spin about losing it was being forced to change a car and get a new one which I am glad I know longer have to kid myself I wanted to do.

Car is back in my possession, a lady decided to take my spare key and move my car for me, can't really say any more at the moment. Many thanks to everyone who were on the lookout for it and the messages of concern :)

A lady I got to know very well and who the Police are now also getting to know took my spare keys, then awhile later thought it would be a good idea to take my car and put it some where else.

I thought you had both sets of keys on you though?

I was away from the car for an hour at most, and I have both sets of keys on me.

Edit: Beaten :(

Sure it happened more recently to someone else too :(

Here's hoping it turns up soon.

Yup me, in february.. 2 days before I was going to Jerez for the f1 test so had to drive to Stansted airport from Bristol while getting wet as the tape kept getting sucked out(looked like a softop prolapse) then stuck it in the car park with a cover over it. still have it as i bought a almost new mohair hood/frame from a nice guy in wiltshire for 150

Anyone know how this works in insurance terms?

Presumably it was reported to them, no claim made,. When you take out a policy you have to declare any accidents ie a bump, so does the stolen recovered episode get forgotten?

Me, Myself and hurfdurf

This other lady that he knows very well is his crossed dressing persona on the weekend.

It explains the mystery woman that he is secretive about.

It explains how he had both keys on him and she still got access to it.

I am right, RIGHT?!

did she take the keys, move the car, then put the keys back after?

There were 2 keys on one key ring, I looked in the draw, saw the key ring and didn't bother looking to see that both keys were on it because they were where I left it. The phone call with the Police made me feel a bit silly when they asked me again and I was all "yes I have checked" only to check again and realise.

and realised that only 1 key attaching to the keyring?

So this woman has access to your house. I guess a key to your house since she was able to take a key whilst you weren't there and move your car.

If she has such close relationship with you, surely you would have found out on the day the car was "missing" and she would have told you she moved it?

She had cut a house key without me knowing it it would seem, there is more to the story which obviously I am not going to go into in depth, but try reading between the lines here, of course she didn't just move it for me as a favor and then neglect to tell me.

Similar to a situation when my old car was broken into - decided not to go ahead with the claim because it wasnt worth the excess.

I now have to declare a non fault, no cost claim for malicious damage - despite the fact the claim never went anywhere. I imagine this will be the same
