The Justice Collective, featuring artists such as Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Melanie C, Gerry Marsden (of You'll Never Walk Alone fame) and Beverley Knight, perform the single He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, a cover of the Hollies' No1 from 1969. The release comes after a report by the Hillsborough Independent Panel said a 'failure in police control' was to blame for the disaster and revealed an establishment cover-up after 96 Liverpool fans were killed. The single was released on Monday – it can be bought here – and is the favourite to take the Christmas No1 one spot. Proceeds from sales will go towards the legal costs of the families of Liverpool supporters who lost their lives

I am not from Liverpool, this isn't football related, don't move them damn thread mods.

Please buy this record to support the families cover legal fees to get justice for their loved ones.

However much I agree with the cause I won't be buying the track, partly because I think it's an awful song and an even worse cover, but mostly because I am a student and am stone broke.

However I support the cause and wish them the best.

Why doesn't McCartney or Williams just give them the money?

If rich people just started giving their money away there wouldn't be enough problems left in the world for these "artists" to raise money for in an effort to remain relevant.

No.

I support the cause and wish them success but I'm not buying a godawful song!

wow. The OCUK community has deteriorated massively these last few years. It's not about the song, but the cause.

I'm going to ask for my account to be deleted. This forum isn't for me anymore.

theres more important causes for money to be spent on than helping legal costs for a bunch of families that might not even need the money....

As said in the music section, no chance.

The report (as said in the op) revealed there was a cover up and the problem has generally been addressed by the report, they don't need more money to ruin the image of people who did it who are already dead and cannot be held accountable.

Everyone needs to look at the good that has come since with football (especially fan safety), accept the findings of the report and move on. Wasting money on this is just not needed any more as wrong doing has been admitted.

Vote this to be christmas no 1. instead

I don't wish to contribute towards lawyers either.
I asked when this thread was started yesterday if any of the money went to the families, or to any sort of memorial, or to any sort of park for kids, or any charities who deal with counselling of the grief sticken, familes, or survivors?
I didn't get an answer to that question.

People are talking of this saying its a great cause, I am quite unsure that it actually is. A load of popstars raising money for the legal profession, I don't see any net benefit for the families.
