Been stitched up hasn't he.
The MP.
After watching the Chanel 4 expose I must say it isn't look good for the police right now.
The man who posed as the member of the public is seemingly 'a worried man' and so he should be. I did think at the time there seemed to be a lot of politicising of the events from the police (who'd just been handed cuts to their budget). I bet those coppers who wore those "PC Pleb" jumpers are feeling a bit silly at the moment.
For a select minority of the police force, not the police.
When this happened, they said Mitchell showed how out of touch the tories are. There was no room for the fact it could have been one man who was unrepresentative of his party as a whole.
But no doubt, it's looking to be a stitch up this will be passed off as an "isolated incident" from one or two "bad apples".
FThis is exactly my concern with the political fallout that is going to start appearing on the horizon; beyond ministerial resignation that is. It is important to differentiate between those who have potentially commited crime, against all moral law abiding officers.
I wondered how long it would take....
...shame the same consideration wasn't given to the Conservative Party at the time. According to papers like the Guardian Mitchell's supposed outburst was a sign of the Tories showing their 'true colours'.
Political parties take hits, rightly or wrongly, all the time.
That is not an excuse, but neither would the actions of a minority justify kneejerk reaction that hinders or effectively punishes the majority.
This doesn't look good, especially considering the leveson/phonehacking business too, but while political play has been a long characterstic the entirety of service should not be subjected to victimisation.
In saying that this really is conjecture until we get an outcome to this. Oh, and the joy of another enquiry from this Government!
