Anyone else think it just does not feel like Xmas at all this year?...hardly seen any lights outside homes,we have had no snow here..even when you walk into shops/town centres the lack of decorations or xmas music etc. :D

I'm very surprised that I haven't yet heard "A Fairytale of New York" on the wireless. It is usually making my ears bleed by now.

Go to my gym, it's on some god awful music channel where they play about 5 of the same ****** christmas songs and x-mas #1 contenders on a constant loop. They also seem to have found every celebrity I hate and made them wish me a merry christmas, jedward, I ****ing hope you die in a plane crash, **** you.

Yeah!... I'm usually bouncing off the walls by Late November/Early December, looking forward to Christmas and my Birthday!!... :)

This year, however, there's only 6 day's to go and I'm all "Meh!" :(

Both the Wife and me couldn't really be bothered this year!!... We've not even got a tree this year!, and the Decorations haven't gone up yet!! :(

You feeling alright?

Every shops are decorated with Xmas stuff. My street is full of Xmas lights.

Must be a boring place where you live. :p

Despite it being the 3rd Christmas I still can't get used to it being sunny, dry and 15-odd degrees C out most days, in the day it doesn't feel Christmassy in the slightest as it's basically equivalent to a nice Spring day in the UK through the whole winter the only difference being there's a Christmas tree out on the pier :p

At night it's a bit better because of all the lights etc but very odd :p

I went into my local sainsburys and they were playing nasty Xmas music - I wondered what hell it would be working there all day and having to listen to that music on repeat. You'd either turn suicidal or murderous.

Does the US thrash Christmas to death in the same oppressive way as the UK? I imagine its more cheerful due to the warmer weather?

I'm not sure, don't forget that it's not just Christmas in the US but a whole holiday season which starts at Thanksgiving (end Nov) and finishes at New Year so I seem to get the impression there is slightly less of an emphasis on Christmas as an individual event.

That said, not having kids, not watching 'regular' TV, buying newspapers, or listening to the radio (internetz TV, internetz news and Slacker radio respectively) makes for a pretty ad-free experience so it's pretty nice avoiding all the advertising junk forcing these events down your throat.

But generally yes I think Southern California tends to be more laid-back about Christmas purely because of the weather and palm trees don't feel very seasonal whereas in colder climates with the snow and evergreen trees I'm sure the whole seasonal feel is much stronger.

nope, i work in food retail, and it is as bad as ever, the songs are playing on the radio, the desperation in the eyes of customers,

the short tempers, stupid people everywhere......

ohh its here alright

I haven't heard any Christmas music.. Not seen many lights.

Could easily forget about Christmas :p only 18, hasn't felt like Christmas for years though!

These are austere times we're living in, Nevakonaza; it's to be expected that people reign in their Christmas extravagances.

Had a meeting with a supplier earlier today who is also an ex Brit and we were discussing how non Christmassy it feels when it's 27 degrees outside and you're worried about getting sunburn if you fire up the Barbie when you get home and have dinner out on the deck.

Where's the snow, cloud and rain?!

 hateful song, only made worse by people getting all "into it" and banging on about what a great christmas tune it is. Fire is the only solution.

Depends on where you are I think. In a tube during rush hour or on a commuter train it will never feel like Christmas. However to have managed not to see any evidence of Christmas or hear any of the festive trash that pop stars are churning out is something of a modern day miracle!
Truly you have been blessed with the magic of the season to avoid all the **** that the media force upon us and ram down our throats. Watching people on Oxford St or in a supermarket shows that most morons simply gobble down the consumer, celebrity endorsed excess that is western 1st world Christmas.

Be thankful that you haven't heard Jedward or SuBo or had to watch some lame boy bands vocal hacking at your festive cheer.

I love Christmas but not the way it has become so trashy.
