Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z (Not interested in GT)

The Region 1 Remastered sets of DBZ (The Orange Boxes) will play on Region 2 DVD/Blu Ray players and can be had for <$20 a season from Amazon.com. The region 2 releases can be had for £25 each on Amazon.co.uk but I'd rather wait a couple weeks for shipping than pay quite a bit extra to be honest. There are a few issues with this remastered set (Have a quick google and you should find them easily enough) but I can personally see past them.

As for Dragon Ball I don't think the region 1 releases work on region 2 and they haven't goten around to releasing them in region 2 yet.

Don't know but I saw a box set in HMV a couple of days ago. Was box of Garlic, Android and Cell Sagas if I remember.

Not seen the set before, so possibly a new release?

"Dragonball Z Kai" is the name of the blu ray release I believe. Pretty sure the bay has the completel collection, abeit a little pricey.

What kind of issues?

Will check these out too. Thanks

I see. Think I'll be trying to go for the original versions (if theyre still available.)

Widely considered closest to the originals is the Dragon Box collection. They can be pretty expensive though and only include the Japanese music. Not sure if these work on Region 2 DVD players but I'm sure they weren't released over here.

Always found the Jap music a little too childish... Will see what happens

Thanks

Yeah, I don't like the Japanese score either. I think the Orange boxes I mentioned earlier are the best in terms of price, video quality and the inclusion of the American Soundtrack. I'd say get one of the orange boxes and see if the issues bother you that much and go from there, they hardly break the bank.

The ultimate version in my opinion would have been the Blu-Ray releases but they stopped producing them after about 30 episodes. 4:3 and remastered correctly from the original and includes pretty much every combination of music/dub and English speaking fan could want :(.

Just to confirm the ultimate version is the Dragon Ball Z Kai?

The PS3's BRay player isnt region free is it?

No and no :p.

Kai is essentially DBZ but with a lot of the filler cut out and everything after the cell games left out. It's decent enough (Faster paced and better voice acting for the most part but Gohan's voice actor changed and different music completely kills it for me.

What I was talking about were remastering of the original series but production costs were apparently too high and they had to stop producing them after 30 episodes so that's ~260 episodes unaccounted for.

well i know funianimation is releasesing uncut boxset of dragon ball z but they doing it a slower pace so that cost keep down and they region 1. they are releasing them in the uk but i think it 1 or 2 boxset a year.

A friend of mine has the entire DBZ series on DVD.

He purchased them around 8 years ago I think, and they are the original Japanese versions, totally uncut.

The DVDs are in smart blue boxes, and I think he got them off a bay. They're not fakes or anything.
