Hey guys thinking of mounting this tv to the wall is there any professional advice out there.
is it possible?
will it be too risky?

the tv is quite big the wall is definitely wide enough.

i am thinking about getting a wall mount which swings 180 degrees to allow me to move the direction of tv.

here are some pictures.

Make sure the mount can take the weight of the TV... As for if the wall can take the weight... I have no idea... :(

Try a Peerless articulating mount like the SUA746, which mounts with two coach screws on one side vertically. Do that and using a stud finder, you can mount it directly to the stud/timber joist. Do that and you'll have a smartly mounted screen.

Find a stud and you'll be fine, keep drilling holes everywhere through plasterboard and it'll fall off.

I had my 50" on a stud wall for 2 years without a problem... I moved house before the inevitable "and then it fell off" comments. I mounted it to 2 studs and used wall anchors for the rest of the holes.

It'll be fine!

I did this only yesterday!!

Internal plasterboard wall, new build house. I'll post my pics and a guide tomorrow night if you like. Just let me know. You don't need a stud finder, depending on your wall or age of house they don't work.

It's VERY easy WHEN you know how to do it properly. Studs and Snap Toggles are a MUST

No. Not for something of decent construction with articulation. In fact it's rather cheap by my standards

No it's not

Mine was £35 and it's VERY high quality steel from a place I'm not sure I can mention on the forums. It also tilts 15 degrees. Those £15 from China on the bay are the ones which are cheap.

I got one for a similar price from Homebase, but it was reduced to £15. Its been on the wall for a year now up in the loft screwed to a plasterboard wall/stud, i don't think i could make it fall off even if i tried!

£60 for a wall mount seems pricey to me, but each to their own. ;)

£60+ is a bit expensive for a wall mount no?

No. I professional articulating wall mount is anywhere from £90-170. Of course you can fin the £10-80 versions out there, but they won't be from a reputable manufacturer and you get what you pay for.

The only brands I would touch are:

Peerless
Chief (Sanus)
Future Automation

And perhaps B-Tech if you're on a budget.

If you want to do it properly this is what you want, I spec'd the cheaper (£73.99) one above as I realised you might be on a budget....just remember you get what you pay for...

Brick wall ? Just drill into it.

Drywall with wood stud? Find the stud /w a stud finder and wood screw drill into it.

Drwall with aluminum stud? Find the stud /w a stud finder and use special tapping screw that looks like it has a drill end of the end of it. see pic

Studs not in the center for drywall installation?

Use some plyboard and attach to the studs using the methods above, then center the TV on the plyboard.

When i mounted my 32" to a stud wall i used a piece of plywood and fixed it to 2 studs then screwed the mount to the ply. It lasted for quite a few years until i moved house but wouldn't like to say if it would be suitable for a bigger screen.

If you attached it to the stud, then you can hang King Kong off it !

Studs are normally 600mm apart, if you fix into the timber it will be fine.
In all fairness plasterboard fixings and the ones that you need a gun for to clamp up will also be fine. They are normally rated at 15kg each so no doubt a big bracket has at least 6 fixings.
Personally i wouldnt mount using plasterboard fixings alone, and id be cautious mounting onto tin studded walls even with the self tapping screws.
