So, seeing as people often complain if threads like these aren't followed up, I thought I'd update you.
They came around today to have a look at it. It was quite clear now that it was in fact water in the light fitting.
So they take the light off, empty of water, and start to look into it.
Probably need to know at this point, that because these are emergency lights, when the mains dies, they go on, and they have a mahoosive battery in them to turn them on when the mains does die.
Anyway, so it turns out, the liquid was the colour it was, because the battery was making contact with water, and yeah... Batteries in water... etc...
So, they take the light off, empty it of water, and start to have a look. They've already killed power to the lights at this point, at which point, battery power kicks in. It then heats up, and you can smell the burning. (water did not do it good). Cue lots of panicking. One guy runs downstairs to get the fire extinguisher, another grabs the battery and runs downstairs and lobs it out of the door 'like it's a grenade'.
Anyway, they dry it all out, run the water, and nothing seems to be leaking, seems I may have just left the shower door open when I ran downstairs and the water got out that way.
They removed the battery, and disconnected the wiring, well, mains is now taped up and insulated so it can't go anywhere. Electrician is coming tomorrow to rewire and sort it out. Been told if I see a single drop of water to call their emergency line straight away.
