Buying music

Beatport

Edit: Oh and Juno Download.

Why on earth do you refuse to use iTunes? Bandwagoning?

I've never had a problem with iTunes, especially the new one. What issues do people have with it?

It ruins old computers for what is essentially an MP3 player with a HTTP front end. Horrible program.

Also the upperfilters problem that Apple seemed to invent for Microsoft

Juno Download, Beatport, Surus and Digital-Tunes are what I mainly use. This is for Drum & Bass though.

Never used iTunes for MP3's as I believe the highest quality they supply is only 256k.

Rainforest's MP3's are relatively cheap too compared to the others, but again I'm not sure if they supply 320k, only 256k.

I buy CD's rip them to my home server as lossless and an MP3 copy for portable use then put the CD in the cupboard. Often CD's are cheaper than downloads and you get to control the quality. All you need is a super cheap optical drive either in your PC or hanging off a USB port.

On the one hand I am sad you don't seem to have experienced new (last few years) itunes, especially on mac where everything just now works (and is rewritten to properly be 64 bit). The old stereotypes have generally been addressed (though the quality of music in the download is a little limited so I avoid the store generally and just buy cd's).

I still buy cds then rip them to V2,vbr mp3.

I like having a physical collection of cds

On the other hand good man! Everyone needs a large collection of CD's.

Something so satisfying about having a well ordered collection for everyone to look BUT NOT TOUCH at...

Plus my car seems to love carting it about with cd's everywhere :)

Oh yeah, was going to say I don't use the iTunes store as I have to have minimum 320, preffered flac or wav quality for my music. DJing using music that has terrible sound quality should be a hanging offence :(

Agree, i never play out on anything less than 1144 KBPS, Unreal quality on a Funktion-One sound system is pure gold playing on that.:)
