Galaxy S2 & vodaphone being gash

You must surely be at the point now where you can request a completely different handset as it is clearly not fit for purpose.

My S2 has been locking up oddly since the ICS update but when it does black screen it always restarts so at least I never miss any alarms or anything :p

I asked for it to be replaced when i called them, time will tell what actually happens though.

Have you tried installing the (leaked) JB ROM and seeing if that's any better?

Not tried any new roms on it, doesn't it flag up the number of flashes it's had?

Quite happy to try one as long as it's in factory shape if i have to send it back anyway.

As I understand it, stock ROMs don't trip the flash counter.

Even if they did, it can be reset (TriangleAway)

ohh, might give the jb and gb roms a go over the weekend then, few people seem to be having trouble with 4.0.4

cheers

Had a few minutes spare today so i googled for downgrading the S2 to gb, oddly enough there were other posts mentioning reboots and black screen of death....

Plugged it into the netbook and the damn thing wouldn't even stay running long enough for the driver installation to complete!

Running 2.3.5 and it been on for over 15 minutes now! :)

Just got a text, the phone just rebooted while she was sat in the works canteen.

:(

Might try the 4.2 tomorrow.

Checked the phone again this morning and it was red hot, which points back to a hardware problem.

Odd how different firmware let it run fine for hours though.

putting 4.0.3 on it for now.

pfft, stopwatch test lasted 7 seconds.

generic 4.0.4 then hunt for the 4.2 this afternoon.

Ran 4.1.2 for around 9 hours, then rebooted as I went to bed.

Has to be a hardware problem, can't see it having a software solution anymore.

Arrived back from repair today. :)

It should be picked up by courier within 2 working days for it's next repair :(

It's been off for repair numerous times so imagine things like this have already been tried. He shouldn't be having to try and fix it himself.

Yes but you don't send the battery off with it, so it's being tested with a decent battery and working then sent back and he's puttin gthe dodgy one back in.

Not saying that it definately is that but worth a try for £10

It was possibly a power problem, so it was sent back with the battery so that be could be checked too.

Well the courier was on the doorstep at 7.45 this morning, let's see if they have any joy this time.

If it doesn't come back 100% working and CS will not replace the device under the "its buggered x times" rule then PM me before deciding what to do next, I may be able to help with internal escalation of some issues. Can't promise anything but at the very least it will be better than what you're currently dealing with.

I'm ever so impressed with the "fast track" repair I was told I was getting, collected on the 18th and on the 25th it was assigned to a technician!
