So I have been invited to a very posh cocktail bar to celebrate with a few senior colleagues.

Having never been to a cocktail bar, What is the proper etiquette? This bar has a table service policy, does that mean is a tab and pay the end?

The thing is I don't even drink alcohol normally, any light cocktail you would advice?

If you don't really drink and are not sure what you'd like and are going to a nice cocktail bar, just say so to the barman. If he's worth his salt he'll ask you what types of flavours etc you like then tailor one to your tastes.
I still do that in posh cocktail bars as I know what flavours I like and in theory I'm partly paying a premium to be made drinks by top notch 'mixologists' (don't like that word). It works every time :)

Edit: table service policy just means you don't go straight to the bar and order and it will most likely go on a tab for your table and there will be service charge. However, in places I've been to recently like that- I still will go to the bar and say that I don't really know what to order but I like x,y and z- could you help me out? Otherwise if it's a really good place then tell the waitress what types of thing you're looking for or want and she'll get the barman to sort it. Reason to do that is because everyone's palate is different and whilst someone could recommend you a generic cocktail which is 'really good', you'll end up going to a fancy place and realising that that is not on the menu or that the drinks your companions are recommending aren't to your taste at all.

Tom Collins, fantastic cocktail I discovered on my honeymoon. Really sharp but sweet as well (lemon juice, sugar syrup, soda water and gin).

With regards to etiquette, it really does depend on the place. One that I have been to in Wimbledon basically worked like a normal bar but with the barmen throwing stuff around like confetti.

I like Tom Collins as well. In fact the Collins family is generally pretty good. But if I'm going to a top notch bar I won't order it as I can get these types of drinks in most cocktail bars.

As long as you wear short denim shorts and leather cowboy boots you will be fine.
Have you seen the video...these boots are made for walking..with Jessica Simpson.

It will just be like a lot of cafes and bars in Europe (provided you have been) where you sit at a table and a waiter will take your order, so yes, you do get a tab. Though you could pay it at anytime if you wish, rather than letting it run.

Presumably as its a posh cocktail bar, they will likely have a dress code.

I do like a Long Island Ice Tea, but on the rare occasions I go to a bar its Gin & Tonic, assuming they have Hendricks or Tanquery.

Ah right, bit of a commoners drink I take it then? :p

As I'm not really a Gin drinker I thought it might be one of the posher ones.
