Yes and i think its wrong for everyone to laugh at him behind his back, so i think if people give him a bit of a hard time now then it can do him a world of good in the long run.

It's most likely because so many people are unsatisfied with life and so look to these events as a form of escapism. That just for a moment they can believe that something new will arrive and scoop them up out of the hardships of life. That coupled with the modern internet age we live in, it spreads like wild fire.
Anyone that claims to have gained information from another dimension or an alien are not viable sources of information. They're just mentally ill. Try and see it for yourself instead of placing your beliefs on things that aren't provable.

Meh my niece was concerned last night before she went to sleep that the world is going to end today, spent a few mins explaining to her that its load of rubbish and not to take any notice of it. And hell if the world was about to end, it wouldnt make a difference as its too late to save ourselves. Thankfully after all that, she giggled and went to sleep...woke up this morning and asked why hasnt the world ended.
Bless her, shes only 13 so doesnt quite comprehend that its all a load of rubbish.

Erm... treating someone differently (or being mean to them in this case) for their beliefs- violates Equal Treatment Directive (which applies to us).
Didn't want to start banging on that drum (and I'm not) but just don't like seeing someone getting flamed for being big enough to admit their wrongs.
13? I thought only someone under the age of 8 would need that kind of reassurance, most 13 year olds are like 16 year olds when I was a teen.
