How much rent to charge gf?

Make her the sole purchaser of toilet paper.

Thank me later.

:D

This tbh ^

Don't let her pay rent, she will claim some ownership of the house when you catch her shagging your mate ;)

Pay towards bills 50/50 and that's about it. Don't let her buy anything she can claim ownership on after stealth moving it, it is a trap ;)

I can't imagine the outgoings will be that high to cause such an issue.

Plus, if he's got a lot more disposable income, it'll be very likely that nights out to a restaurant, the cinema or whatever else will be paid more by him than by here.

This is basically it in a nutshell...yes I make more but she's still on a really good wage.

I pay for most nights out, meals etc...once she said she was going to the loo and managed to pay the restaurant bill instead

and it is bizarre how quickly the toilet paper has been going down ....

If she likes to pay her way, let her. No harm in it...equal society and all :p

As you already own the place, and have no mortgage...id just ask her to help out with utility bills etc,I wouldn't charge her rent for actually staying at the property...after all she is your GF. :)

If she wants to contribute, then ask her if she would like to go 50/50 on all the bills. Perhaps even suggest she cooks the odd meal every now and again, as you're providing her with a free roof over her head.

69/31 ;)

Seriously though for a second, make her pay something, if you earn significantly more then so some kind of pro-rata arrangement is fair.

I'm sure both her/your intentions are good but these kind of things can turn sour if not probably discussed and sorted early on.

You may feel happy for her to live there rent/bill free at the moment, 18 months down the line you could feel very differently but it's then a much harder conversation to have.

If there's no mortgage to pay then half of the bills is fair. She's already has "rent" covered, so I wouldn't give her a break on the bills.

Eh? you lot fik??! :p

It wasn't a math conundrum, i was simply stating that if she earns much less than him (i think he said 50%) and she already has debts to pay, and then asking her to pay half of the bills then it may leave her with little money left.

Are you 3 triplets?

He said he earns 50% more than her. Just to be clear, that does not mean she earns 50% of what he does. And just because he earns 50% more doesn't mean she can't be earning a lot! So not only maths fail, logic fail as well.
