Anyone here playing VS on Cobalt? Looking for an outfit/squad that doesn't mind having a casual player join their ranks.

I play VS on Cobalt with a group of friends who use Teamspeak while we play. You're more than welcome to have a game with us, most of us are mature players (20's or 30's), a couple older.

just started this game with just 13hrs on the clock
really like night time and when tanks barging in the gate when conquering a base :D

anyone know if there is a way to take out enemy aircraft as an infantry? like the stingers in bf3? I could use all my ammo for rpg as a heavy and it wont even hit lol

The ground to air in the game is pretty much broken at the moment though. A dual burster max can do it if the target sits still for long enough, but the guided missiles are worse than useless, they do tiny damage. I think my stats for the hawk are something like shots 563, kills 1. And it's a bloody homing missile

Not only in regards to the coordination required to destroy air. But just the insignificance of doing so due to the rather generous resource system and the lack of any required specialization in vehicles to be able to pull them in the first place.

Last night the TR did a huge push on Amerish up the East flank of the continent towards Onatha.. we noticed there was a hideous amount of Mosquitos and Liberators so picked a hill and deployed with 5+ dual burster maxes, a few heavies with AA missiles to boot... and we slaughtered them. Mosquitos were dying by the dozen, Liberators were going down left right and centre... and after 30 mins - 1 hour of that constant slaughter before a tank column came and chased us out? there was easily as many mosquitos and liberators up as when we started... until you get a meaningful resource system and perhaps some kind of limited vehicle certification then any attempt to stem the flow of air or ground vehicle zergs is just an ocean+broom scenario.

The problem is when they buff AA they normally go overboard, the skies are then empty which knocks onto the ground in the form of endless tank spam (worse than now), we had this in beta.

The ground to air launchers could probably do with a little damage buff but they need to be careful. Its also more effective when used in combination with bursters and/or other people with lock on launchers who wait until the pilot has wasted their flares with your missile. Coordination between a few players can completely devastate an air attack but obviously it comes down to numbers on each side as well.

Just because you didn't kill him doesn't mean its completely worthless, if he has to run away and your squad takes the objective then thats a victory as well.

Agree... this is the kind of thing they need to work on as they add continents and metagame to it, winning on a continent has to give your side something and take it away from the other factions.

And I do this on a regular basis, it's pretty much required in a squad that someone stands there and chases the flyers away. It keeps your squad alive, but unlike medic you get no reward for it.

tried the rpg with lock on. spent the whole trial time trying to destroy an aircraft with 0 success lol

all they do is outspeed the projectile and fly in circles and i think when 1 hits it deals about 1/4 damage. Only bonus is they stopped bombarding us with their rocket pods for a few seconds.

think ill just specialize in ground vehicles while they improve it

Had an awesome game again last night, we defended a Biodome for about 2 hours with the NC finally pushing in and they took all the control points. We managed to some how recapture A then push them back out of the dome and start attacking the satellite bases around the dome.
we have over 150 players in our outfit and its amazing on Operation nights.

Im not sure I enjoy been in a large outfit anymore on this game. It's weird I had more fun in when you had a solid squad led by a great leader in beta. I could not wait for launch and to join the outfit I was going to roll with.

It felt great with a 10-12 of you defending or taking against a large force, I could not wait to join an outfit but having played a few months, despite how awesome OPS nights (they a pretty amazing) I im finding just playing with a couple of RL friends more often than not and having more fun.

I guess some of it stems from hatred of big guilds/clan in general who I feel do more harm than good.

That could work as I'm 30 myself :)

I used to play Planetside 1 to death & was a member of the Wireplay Outfit back in the day & loved working as a group with voice.

Why is VS so OP? On my server we own 3/4 of map mostly.

Also I hate friendly fire, we managed to fight our way to a generator room just so a guy on our team could chuck in a grenade and kill us all, dumbass

On Lithcorp I find that the sides are mostly balanced on the map, although the VS have usually beat all of the continents previously.

Friendly fire is a pain, but mainly because people run in front of my gun while I am firing into an enemy spawn point.

I've done that too, I think the lack of hit marker on a friendly is what makes me carry on firing because I'm to busy focusing on the enemy
