Trouble booting since Win 8 install

I don't know whether it is coincidental or not but I have had some trouble with my pc stalling since I installed Win 8 a couple weeks ago.

Sometimes it can freeze literally after getting to the desktop in which I have trouble restarting directly after and have to wait a few minutes before turning it back on.

I did have a situation where a warning message came up about the CPU fan running lower than 600 RPM and even now it runs at around 640/650 RPM where as the other fans are around 800+. The CPU temp seems stable at around 28/29 whilst typing this and mobo is only 24 so cant see it is that.

I have had a couple of BSOD's with the WATCHDOG_VIOLATION message but haven't a clue what that's to do with.

Any help on where to start would be brilliant.

TIA

Without an error code or something not much to help. You with. Other than its probably hardware related, could try unplugging anything non essential like USB periphals and seeing if it happens. Or go post on a windows 8 forum and include any logs.

Would the BSOD show in Event Viewer and if so under what? I have noticed that in the Action Centre there is an option to check for solutions and there are 3 to check for stating "Video Hardware error" and they were around the times of the BSODs if remember correctly

Well I discovered that the WATCHDOG_VIOLATION code was being caused by needing a firmware update on my SSD drive which since updating has improved booting. I'm starting to wonder whether I may need a bigger PSU as I used the Cooler Master wattage calculator and my usage was 631W where I have a 650W PSU. I'm not sure whether i'm pushing the limit with the PSU.

UPDATE. Well it seems the problem wasn't to do with the SSD firmware as my system is still cashing at startup. I had another Event ID 41 with my crash this morning. I'm just lost at what to look at. I'm leaning towards either the PSU or CPU cooler is having problems but I can't be certain.

No, upgrade on Win 7 as bought it online.
ok. maybe try doing a clean install.
just boot from the Win 8 upgrade media (USB or DVD), and install.

just format or delete the main partition, don't delete/format the System Reserved partition because if you do it won't activate by itself, u would need to either phone activate or do a reg workaround
