Todays festive special price problem D2X too much

Get the D2X, i've heard great things about it and it appears to have superior hardware, especially if you use surround sound as it appears to have dedicated opamps for each channel. From what I have read the soundblaster Z uses a high end cirrus logic DAC for the main stereo channels but uses the recon 3d's lackluster DACs for the other channels. Considering they are so similar in price it's really a no brainier unless you need optical.

Oh, and the realtek codec you listed is one of their best codcs along with the ALC889A, however the D2X will thoroughly trump it if you have decent headphones.

D2/X also has optical. ;)
