Well, I opened a Christmas card that turned out to be 100 quid OcUK voucher. So I get to spooge it on whatever I want.

Do I buy 50 quid worth of sexy braided cables to make a full set of black sata, 24 pin atx, 8 pin CPU, and pci-e cables? If so what else to spend the rest on?

Do I buy a 256gb corsair force 3 drive and flog my 60gb overflow vertex 2 and relegate my 120gb vertex 2e to its place?

Or do I buy some other fun stuff? Maybe upgrade my mobo while it's out of my case and bite the bullet with a fresh install?

I already have:

2500k at 4.2ghz
p67 c45 (once it comes back from RMA)
8gb ram
7950
2tb of mech storage
nzxt phantom
Dell u2711 and acer 24in

Hmm, new mouse might work if I go the cable route.

The mobo probably makes the most sense, but I hate the idea of having to reinstall windows :(

Think I'd get a Z77 mobo so you can exploit the IGP for Lucid MVP and quick sync. The GB Z77-D3H would be a good shout. 3 year uk based warranty, you can flog your replacement P series once it arrives.

Hmm, or I could use the replacement board for my gf's new build. Ideas!

e: what's lucid MVP? The main limitations I have with my current board are a lack of sata ports and more fine grain controls over overclocking.

You'll be fine with your current install, just install the latest chipset drivers and anything else that's not picked up in device manager.

Cheers. I'm guessing win8 might kick up a fuss though? I presume I can reactivate it, but I can't remember if it's oem or retail.

With Windows 8 the OEM key acts like a retail. You can reuse the key as many times as you like.

On the other hand I wouldn't bother with Virtu, I did have it installed previously but uninstalled it after since it caused problems for me instead (although this was like a couple of years back, latest drivers are probably more stable).

Go for some real difference making things

Mouse, keyboard, speakers

Believe me.. Never have too many electronics.. Just a shame they come with cables.

I'm all set for good headset and keyboard, and my mx518 is an acceptable mouse. I'm thinking the motherboard is my best bet since it saves me some cash on my gf's build and gives me a cheeky upgrade to ivybridge in the process. Means I can go xfire in the future too.

Well, bought the gigabyte board suggested above, as well as the photoshop build in my other thread so I'll be nicking the ivybridge chip as well and giving the missus my 2500k :) Now I just need to dig out the stock cooler :o
