ok im on a prepay meter, and i checked my meter and it was on around £13.50 credit, i checked again 13/14 ish hours later on and it was around £8 .80

so i started to check items with my monitor

pc - 350 watts , folding so on all the time
x- mas lights outdoor - 450 / 500watts aprox on for around 7 hours today.
tv , around 250 watts been on all the time.

ive been playing the xbox for a total of 2.5 hours also , do these use much electric?

hairdryer was also on for a little while / hoover for a little while.

rest of the items that are on are lights around the house , to be fair most have energy saving bulbs aswell , there was probaly 4 lights on for around 10 hours in the time i checked and rechecked the meter reading

scottish power are charging me £0.13 per khw

i wasnt even using this much when i had 2 x gtx 470s running and pulling silly amounts of power

500 watts for xmas lights? Are you lighting up Blackpool tower?

Modern LED lights use next to nothing for power. Even the regular bulb ones aren't that power heavy.

If you want to save power, stop folding for a start (why even throw money away on this).

theres a few lights! , foldings competative fun .

so with only these running
pc
2 lights
freidge/freezer

i recoreded this

£8.63 @ 03.49 am
£8.49 @ 07.44 am

ill check again at around 12 am when the tv is on and other devices.

i think the tv is using to much for a tv. i replaced a 42" samsung with a 2005 model 50" LG tv , i need to measure how much the samsung was using.

i dont mind paying it if i KNOW it should be using that amount, but , i was / am lost to how it used so much in so little time.

For the ones you have listed its 1100W (1.1kW) so thats around £2, hoover and hairdryer can use a lot, XBox is probably around 2-250W, and don't forget your standing charge!

i take it this was on sunday morning, youe meter has taken the weekly standing charge, along with any leccy used,

had this a while back with a property, EVERY SUNDAY, wham it would cut off and no leccy,

always keep £20 on the key

Looking at those figures (Around 40KWhr/14 hrs) I would guess that you had an electric heater on somewhere in addition to your stated appliances.

Electric oven left on by mistake? Water heater (Lots of baths/showers)? Panel heater in the Bathroom left on? That sort of thing.

we have an electric fire! i forgot about that but dont think it was on, but i was out at times yesterday so the kids probaly did turn it on!

I know nothing about this, but my mum has recently changed from scottish power because they done the same to us, I think the bills were around £80 or so and then they were coming in at £180 using the same amount of power.

x-mas lights arnt on yet , but a condenser dryer has been on today for around 1 hour between 11.18am and 17.24pm

no xbox yet either

Some prepay tarrifs are charged at a higher rate for the X ammount of units used, Only then does it drop to your standard rate after youve them initial units.

I used to be charged a higher rate for the first 225kwh used per quarter, Then it dropped to the normal rate untill next quarter.

A condenser dryer will have a 2kW heater in it.

I've got this crazy image in my head that he has lit his whole house up like a christmas tree and it so bright it can been from space.

I would hate to see just how many LEDs he has which is causing them to use 500W of power.
