Water damage

It's bound to have knackered electrics too if it was sat in 3 feet of water. One of my wife's colleagues just did £5.5k damage to her 2008 Renault Megane in less water!

when will people learn about driving through flood water?

when insurance stop paying out due to people stupidity, oh wait.

The water was just below the door handle so I estimate around 3 ft gotta be honest I was amazed the water didnt get in. What can I say it's the first claim I've had in 20 years driving and on the night in question I had driven thru a lot of standing water but hey I hold my hands up. Got no one to blame but myself. Anyway have a good Xmas guys

There's a pic going around on Facebook of a local floodspot under a bridge where some bint has driven a new convertable mini in to it and all you can see is a few inches of the roof, I bet it's thoroughly soaked. Not sure why you'd take the chance in a brand new car tbh.

Did you climb out through the window ?

I bet the water was cold too !

Oh.. The son in law needed a new (recon I assume) engine in his vauxhall combo van. He did the same as you. ie: The puddle turned out akin to a lake.

£2900 for replacement engine (& Labour.)

Luckily a guy with a small flatbed lorry reversed up in front of me as close as he could and attached a rope and pulled me out so luckily I didn't get wet. If he hadn't I wod of got out the window as couldn't open the door as the interior would have been waterlogged. Hopefully will find out the extent of the damage after Xmas so will give an update.

So you have a car up to it's door handles in water but none came in. Also you have some random guy in a truck go wading for you to tow you out while you just sat there in the car?

This story is sounding more and more like a load of **** and bull.

Does sound strange as you need to attach a tow hook from the boot to tow it. Although if the bonnet was open you could attach it to a engine mount.

the guy was a tree surgeon or whatever you call it and had a open back truck with a flap down back tail door he attached the car from under the hood and pulled me out that way would have taken picture but tbh last thing on my mind

I lost a mudflap driving down a road closed because of flooding on Christmas eve.
Good old rover engineering :o

Is this your golf ?

The water being three ft sounds rubbish to me also but what do I know. Odd how it never entered the car through the gear lever, the pedal box or any other easily open orifice but hey....

Heard back from Vw today needs new engine and turbo roughly £6500. According to the dirt line around the car is was approx 2ft 3 inches high my bad looked higher sitting in the car. Do you reckon they will repair as he was 50/50 ?
