I have had my sig rig for nearly 16 months now IIRC, and I am only just getting round to cleaning the radiator out (and replacing TIM while i'm at it).

How often would you/do you clean dust out from your radiators? And how much of a temperature difference do you notice before vs after?

Thanks guys, and Merry Christmas :)

Every time I redo my loop, so about every 6 months and I get only 1-2 degrees difference, but I think that's mainly because I have a 480 and a 240 just for a CPU

OP - your sig's a line too long :)

My sig is 4 lines..?

That's quite a lot of cooling for a cpu :P what chip and clocks do you have? :D

5 lines for me:

:)

3930K at 4.4ghz ATM. Waiing for RAM blocks so I can stick my GPUs under aswell, hence the OTT cooling for the time being :p

I use comp air to clean mine monthly in situ, and then remove the rad on a six monthly basis and clean it better when I'm draining it down

Ah ok, well its definitely 4 on my screen :p

How did you make the forums look like that? Browser settings or a plugin or..?

And thats a nice overclock on a very nice chip :) I am jealous :p

The number of lines depends on you res or browser zoom.

Worth doing it every few months, especially as a big buildup can become quite stubborn. Also if your using high fpi rads and highspeed fans, buildup will be quicker.

At the end of the day it depends how you have your rads mounted, using fan filters, having pets, etc. My rad is mounted on the outside rear[fans pull], case[FTO1] using fan filters, it just takes me 15 minutes to clean the filters and give the rad a blast of air to blow any dust off once a month.

I bought a 240v air pump[sidewinder] it cost £15+P&P, its just the job having 3xPC's in the house. It saves a hell of a lot of money by not having to buy Air Dusters[cans of air] at about £8 a pop size varies do the math. ;)

You redo your loop every 6 months, ****** hell, when l built my first loop l used Therochill EC6 pre-mix[£6 a ltr] and l emailed them asking how often l should replace the coolent every upto 2 years. My PC is on at least 14 hours a day gets well abused lol, so what l did was take a sample of the coolent out checked it in good light no alge at all or contamination every 6 months. The coolent was crystal clear so it stayed like that for 2 years with no temp rises at all and checked the fittings and blocks for discolouring very little after 2 years.

At the end of 2 years l did replace the tubing and the coolent again using EC6, during the 2 years it hardly needed topping up. :)

It's usually because something's broken/being upgraded :p

Cheers guys, I have had push-pull on a cheapo 120mm thin radiator in a reasonably messy room with no filters for 16 months. I will take a pic when I clean it :D

Cleeco "It's usually because something's broken/being upgraded. :p"

Even if you just upgrade a component like a GPU or replacing broken one[ are you that unlucky], just clamp off both ends, l'v upgraded the GPUx3. If l had to drain the loop for some reason l'd reuse the coolent which l would drain into empty pre-mix bottle l kept.

A merry xmas to you to. :p
