my rig:

bitfenix prodigy mini itx case
i5 3570k
Gigabyte Z77N-WIFI Motherboard (ITX)
2x4gb patriot intel masters RAM
500w modular psu (bronze 80 plus)

my budget is £100 and I will use this rig mostly for dayz, arma 2...

any help appreciated

+1, although Arma 2 is more CPU dependant, so a nice OC on his CPU would probably be more beneficial )

is it difficult to overclock? i've never looked into it but my mate said its similar to getting a car remapped which i know quite a bit about... like what would i need to do it? just better cpu cooling?

It's very simple, but you need an aftermarket cooler to cope with the extra heat :)

You should be able to get close to 4.4Ghz on that board (it is voltage locked).

At present, I only have the stock cooler that came with the cpu, and that easily reaches 4.2. Just go into your bios and change 34 (stock) to say...38 or 40.

Download something like Core Temp, and monitor the temps, though I doubt you'll have any issues.

:)

Shame you can't stretch to 'around' the £150+ mark, as a 7850 would be the sweet spot.

;)

However, if you can stretch to a 7850, I would:

Even if it's a 1gb, but the 2gb would be advisable.

A 7850 would completely and utterly annihilate a GTX 560TI, and at a £170? Good Grief.... that vastly faster 7850 is only £150.

I can't believe a GTX 560TI is being suggested, especially at that price.

^^ That benchmark is the older non 448 edition 560ti - the 448 edition at £200 will level peg a 7850 on performance with both on latest drivers except at higher resolutions where the 560ti is VRAM limited.

Given the price difference tho you'd have to either have a need for nVidia specific features or prefer nVidia hardware to buy it over the 7850.

Stock for stock a 7850 is near enough a GTX 580 on the latest drivers, and then some... with masses more overclocking head room on the 7850.
