People and Flu Jabs.

Ok, this is not a medical thread as such, I know exactly what is wrong with me, it's "man flu"

A few weeks a go my Mother had a flu jab, then she caught a bit of a cold, then after that my Father caught a bit of a cold, coughing up his lungs, and I got home on Saturday, so I thought, if I catch this, it's going to be Monday night or Tuesday morning based on that "incubation period" of 48 hours.

sure enough I got it on Tuesday, but before i got it, my Mother also caught it, but only mild compared to me and my Father who are coughing lungs up of this super thick greenish brownish mucus that would do a better job of patching up the pot holes of the UK road compared to the current efforts.

So, my question is, could it have being my Mother's flu jab that sparked all of this off? The last time I had a cold was October.

No, the virus in a vaccine is either already dead or very week. Chances are it's just a bug that is going round. Think yourself lucky, norovirus is everywhere atm.

I must have had the Norovirus very mild as I was feeling sick/ watery poo for about 2 days. Never got sick though.

No the virus in the flu jab is inactivated (essentially dead).

What has occurred in the last few weeks, however, is A Flu A type and a Flu B type that have not been tracked globally over the the preceding year (we use this epidemiological data to decide what is the best structure for the flu innoculation) has surfaced, this is why people who have had the flu jab are coming down with flu. I'm one of them and my swab this morning has confirmed mine is the flu B variant that has begun to proliferate in the community.

Also Cold and Flu are very very different things, you know the difference when you have a bout of flu

The difference is picking up that £5 note but moaning about it (cold) and not moving to pick it up because you physically cannot (flu).

Lots of people blame the flu jab if they get one, or complain that it never worked because they got a cold. The general public really need to be educated as to what the flu jab actually does.

I know when I got mine, it was an inoculation for the 3 (what they thought were going to be) most common strains (read the box as the doc stuck me in the arm).

This so much, people seem to think its a full proof vaccination against all kinds of winter colds, people dont seem to understand that the injection is just working on the best know possible strain that's worked off from the first known case of "Flu" that year and it can change dramatically, I have had jabs every year but still one year got full on hospitalised Flu.

Sadly our laboratory has just been told we've had a member of staff that has died as a result of complications being directly attributed to the Flu B infection by the treating medics. He died this morning of a massive coronary after being admitted last night with 40°C (104°F) temperature

That's the problem with flu, it stresses the body so much that even the slightest underlying weakness can proove fatal.

Really sad day

The way vaccines work is that they give you the virus in the vaccines. They are anti-bodies which is usually a mild version of the virus, that is why 90%+ of people who take the flu vaccines get sick.

Flu vaccines are only about 70% effective [according to the vaccine nurse at work here]. Not 100% like some people think.

Oh yea just a coincidence that when most people take the vaccine they get sick....

Vaccines are dodgy as hell, i would not take a vaccine unless i was on my death bed.

We don't even know where these vaccines were made, probably some dodgy Chinese factory where they could be putting sterilization chemicals in there.

Don't have it

I knew four people who had it, all the same week, all became ill & all snuff it.
They were aged between 60 - 70, maybe just coincidence, but you take that only so far.

My mum is 70+ & she refuse point blank to have the jab, & my my doc keeps pestering me to have the jab.

They probably caught the flu in the doctors while waiting for their jab. Staying at home is a much better form of defence than an injection.

Take your mumbo jumbo scare mongering **** to some place else that kowtows to your conspiracy bull. :rolleyes:

1) Although some people do illicit a strong immune response to a flu vaccination this is in no way a majority occurance. Many reported cases of illness are caused by onset of Rhinovirus infections (common cold) which also happen to begin their rise in community incidence at the same time of year as the flu jab is being issued.

2) We do know where the vaccines come from as all data pertinant to a particular vaccine can be checked via lot and serial. I have worked in 1 establishment where vaccines were produced on site and I currently work at a place that is part of a group of labs where mass vaccines are quality controlled.

Stop being an attention seeking liar.
