what are people's opinions on the most effective formation to play in UT?
currently i am using 352 which I find very balanced but I keep coming up against 433 which i struggle with.

I like 4321 but it can be a bit 1 dimensional. 433 is what I struggle against when using 4321.

352 and 451 I find the easiest to play against excluding the obvious ones.

41212 used to be the most balanced in 12 but I think it isn't that great 13.

I'm sure other will be on here disagreeing with me but that's FIFA divides opinions

Anything with 5 at the back :p

But seriously, it's down to your own preference. I really like 451 personally with my BBVA team. But oddly enough I cannot stand 352. I can't seem to play well with any team with just 3 at the back. I always seem to lose more games, but then again I suck at defending lol.

I think that is my problem as well, defending!!

even when playing with 5 at the back i can't seem to defend well.

saying that the best sequence of results I had was with one of my earlier 5221 teams.

against the 451 i get murdered on the counter, 5 attackers up against my back 3 most times.

352 for me, not sure if it's the best formation because it's pretty open at the back at times, but it's the most enjoyable for me :) Definitely more fun to try and outscore the opponent rather than sweat out a 1-0 win.

I'm probably going to a few "pro" tournaments in 2013, so will be rocking the 352 in a world of 352 non believers! I'm either going to convert them all or get my behind handed to me.... :|

Dan, not to be rude at all but if you don't think you're good at Fifa 13 why are you going to pro tournies? Or is it part of a Futwiz thing? Genuinely not rude at all, just interested.

No offence taken :p I'm going to meet up with a few mates who still play, possibly part of a Futwiz thing too :D

I'm genuinely nowhere near the standard I was in FIFA09/10, but for some reason whenever I make a re-appearance at these tourneys I tend to do OK - probably just a combination of experience, because I've got nothing to lose and don't take it too seriously :p

Thankfully the tournies aren't FUT though, I'm not too bad on H2H and on FIFA13 Clubs we were top 10 in the world until Black Ops came out :/ Rumours are that there's going to be a clubs tournament at the next event :)

Fairy nuff, how high is the standard? Is it all 5 at the back, ultra-D one-two spam? I watched some high level stuff last year and that was absolutely all it was, painful stuff to watch.

The standard of the top 3 or 4 in the UK is very high, other than that it's fairly open to be honest - if someone fancies a trip to Telford to play in the FIFA tourney during the easter holidays for i48 I highly recommend it :)

As for the actual games themselves, it seems a lot different compared to previous years, the LAN tournament last month came up with some of the most entertaining "pro" FIFA matches that I've ever seen - even the final was very open!

I think in the UK at least they're going with an agreement to "ban" switching to 5 at the back mid match, if you start with it it's fine but no changing tactics to park to bus during the game. It's resulted in very few using 5 defenders as it compromises your attack so much, especially against good players.

Ronaldo and IF Mata.

edit: Steinoo that team could be so much better, even in that vile formation. You new(ish) to FUT?
