New Build / New Person / Be Patient

Right!!

Thought i'd renew an old post as the time has come. I have some Xmas money and im ready to buy my new rig.

Budget stays between £550-£700 (Cheaper the better).

For gaming. (Got Far Cry 3 over xmas and it doesn't run properly on Medium on my C2D and GTX260.

So... So far ive decided on:

i5 IvyBridge 3570K (Will be overclocking)

7950 AMD (But unsure which make is the best one) I've usually been good with MSI. Ive heard there is a BOOST version?

Just need some clarification on the best CPU Cooler. I will be using AIR so will need something that will handle up to 4.40GHZ As i hear thats the safest OC on Air.

HDD I will be buying a 1 X 2TB. So thats sorted. Will probably be the Barracuda 7.2k.

I will most likely prefer a 600W -700W PSU as i WILL be looking to Crossfire the 7950 in a few months for Crysis 3.

So if you guys dont mind, Which best Z77 Mobo would you go for? And Best RAM and CPU Cooler.

Then i am complete. Looking to purchase from tomorrow :)

4.4ghz air cooling....your gonna need ear defenders ;)

4.4GHz on air is perfectly achievable and can be done with a quiet cooler too. The "nonsense" comment will be directed to the chap who said it would be noisy, no doubt.

The Gigabyte z77-d3h recommended above is a great board (I've just upgraded to it myself).

The HIS 7950 is quite cheap and has great cooling, as well as adding the benefit that it exhausts heat out the rear of the case, so if your case doesn't have great cooling then that might help.

Thanks man!

I heard a lot of people recommend the Shinobi Case : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-019-BX

But someone on the thread said the CPU cooling fan they recommended may be too big for it? IS that a pretty good case you reckon?

At me or Harveywoo?

I had a Shinobi until recently. I'd recommend this case for virtually the same looks and price, but with much better airflow and features like a removable HDD cage.

I went with the Gigabyte for the Lucid Virtu MVP stuff. Also, Gigabyte have a UK-based RMA centre so faster RMA turnaround if I need it.
