Steam Christmas Sale 2012

This sale has been seriously depressing so far. It's telling when the best deal has been from the american version of the Rainforest! To be fair though, £5 for LOTR:Lego was very good!

I must admit I was expecting more most games are either ones I know i wont ever play or buy or already own

FTL is a must if you haven't already got it.

I've just got a new rig, 3750K & 7850, all I've been playing over xmas is FTL and Minecraft :D.

I wish they would have just made The Sims 3 and all the DLC into a bundle for £20-25 or something. I haven't played it since the first one (which I loved when I was younger) and wouldn't mind playing it as I think it'd be great for when I'm just watching TV or SC2 tournaments online since it doesn't require loads of concentration and pausing it doesn't "break" the gameplay like it would in the middle of an action scene. It's always interesting just cheating and building ridiculous houses and stuff too :D.

Buying just the game itself without the DLC, seems pointless, and there's no way I'm going to pay over £100 for the DLC :/.
Your lucky if you only needed to buy it once....

 I bought the sims 3 & most of it DLC off steam twice

Once for my steam account and second time as a present for my sister daugther

I accidentally paid £8 odd for SSFIV & DLC when I could (and should!) have just bought the DLC for £2 :(

The price of the sims expansions is just disgusting in my opinion. I own all of them bar seasons and not a single one of them should ever have cost more than £15 at any point and I personally think only the super natural pack and late night should ever cost £15. The rest should be £10 and the stuff packs should be £5. Charging £30 for an expansion that barely adds 1/5th of the content the orginal game has is unacceptable.
I guess EA look at it the only game girls will ever buy..

So EA charge sky high prices for it knowing there no way there ever going make any other money from females :p

A lot of people have been describing Walking Dead as their game of the year, so it's definitely worth looking at. I've only played a couple of hours of iot so far, and it's made a good first impression.

Ive been watching some people play it today. Not for me. It has to much narrative. You spend more time listening than doing. It also seems too scripted although appearing open. If something is supposed to happen it will. If you avoid it in the first instance it will occur a few processes later

So for me, its too linear and too story based (i dont really care about game stories tbh)

I think to appreciate the walking dead you need to not only have a taste for narrative, but you also need quite a degree of maturity. Im not talking about guts and gore and violence. Im talking about empathy, about understanding how hard it can be to make decisions sometimes, and accept the bad things that can happen even when your intentions are sound. For me, i was blown away by the attachment i formed with the little girl who is your ward for the game, i really worried about her and constantly caught myself checking on her first and doing what was best for her even when it was detrimental. It literally created bonds that have, to my knowlege, never been this well formed outside of the real world.

Its impressive, but if your idea of a zombie apocalypse is the idea that you and your mates would grab some weapons and have a great time, this might not be your thing.

it's a great story but a boring game imo

Yes i agree. For me i dont usually like that much narrative (plus i was just watching) i like games with decisions (love fallout and civilization) it just for me you are listening more than doing. If you like lots of narrative its probably a great game

Walking Dead does seem to be far more about the story than the gameplay. Gameplay-wise, it's a point-and-click adventure game with QTEs, which may not be to everyone's liking. But I think the story makes up for it.
