Hi,

My wife got a make up mirror for Christmas that has a light in. It came from the US and has a US plug on it. The issue is that one of the prongs is bigger then the other, so none of our adapters fit this style of plug.

What sort of adapter would I need?

Thanks,

Spamalot

Its just a standard US plug. You're current adapters were probably just cheap if they didn't have this incorporated into them. The wider prong signifies that its the neutral pin.

It's 120V, what can be done?

Get the receipt and get one that isn't 120v.

I had the exact same problem with a vaporiser during my stoner days, I didn't notice however and rather than producing a faintly white smoke the thing emitted choking clouds of black smoke, fun was not had!

Hi guys,

you need a transformer, depending on the power requirements these run form 10bucks for a chap Chinese thing which will burn down your house or many hundreds for an expensive Chinese thing which might not burn down you house.

I had a cheap transformer for my electric toothbrush and it worked fine for 9 months before smoking.... Anything over 200w tends to need a more serious transformer.

You also have to be careful of 50Hz vs 60Hz AC for some devices.

If it's 120V -> power brick -> mirror, replace the power brick with a 240V equivalent.

If it's 120V -> mirror, it's probably just the bulb(s). If you're competent enough, you may be able to just replace the bulbs.
