just checking my 4.6 clock on my 2500k after realising that it went back to 4.4 for some reason

its been running on prime for about 30mins now and has been stable

system is
i5 2500k
megahalems with 2x140mm akasa apache
16gb kingston hyper x [email protected]

i reckon i could get more out of it tbh, it has reached 72c but the fans are pwm and stay low, i can set them to max speed and it wont go over 60ish so it has some more thermal headroom

shall i keep upping the multiplyer till its not stable then add some more volts? im going for a 24/7 stable clock

somone point me in the right direction

Like you say temps look good, though that voltage is looking a bit high..

I know the reccomended max voltage used to be 1.38v, though i think its raised a bit now but still lower than 1.5v.

Is that the lowest Voltage you can get 4.6 Stable on?

His voltage looks about right to me for a 2500k at 4.6.

i reckon i could get the voltage down a bit but i want to go higher with the clock. the cpu fans are only spinning at 700rpm and can go up to 1400rpm so ive got a bit to play with there.

im gonna shoot for 4.7 and then IF thats stable ill go for 4.8, check for stability and leave it at that. been running prime at the above setting for an hour now and its stable so im gonna up to 4.7 now

i thought the max safe voltage for sandybridge is 1.425 or something like that?

ocuk state 1.425v

ok ive lowered the dram volts to 1.5v

should i push for more on the cpu? im stable @ 4.6 with 1.328v

what should i increase the voltage to so i can try for 4.7? it wasnt stable at 4.7 with 1.328

My 2500k runs 4.8ghz with 1.365v set in BIOS raising to around 1.4v under load. My ram runs 1600mhz with 1.65v and my Max CPU temp under burn test very high is 76.c...been set like this for about a year with no problems at all and is stable.
Yours looks fine to me...

My thinking was to set the volts to 1.37 and go for 4.7 see if it's stable Then maybe go for 4.8
Never really pushed the chip before so don't know what it's capable of. Also I want to make sure my 7970 isn't being bottleneckd at all. The 16gb of ram can't be helping the clock either though, 8gb was enough for before I upgraded so I think I'll sell 8gb

That sounds a good plan.

Its hard to help where the voltage goes under load. You still have a bit of headroom.

Try 4.7 @1.37v and if that's happy see what you can get at 1.38.

still stable at 4.7 with 1.37v

been running prime95 for about 45mins now

gonna set it to 4.8 and see where if its stable.

ok so prime was running for an hour at 4.7ghz with 1.37v in the bios im gonna set it to 1.38 and go for 4.8v

dammit moogleys lol IBT is a right *******! 135watts when prime could only manage 115watts

i did 10 passes at very high and it crashed as it was about to finish its final pass!

max temps reach were 77 on the hottest core

it was stable until the final pass

what would you suggest to do now? i could run it again and close all windows. i had paint and google open so i could save screen shots while doing the test
