Will i be okay fitting a pcie x1 soundcard into a pcie x4 slot?

im getting this sound card tomorrow:

and wondering whether it will perform the same in a pcie x4 slot as i dont have a x1 slot to usem, will it be okay?

A x1 size PCI-E card will work in any of the physically larger size PCI-E slots.

Yes it will work no problem, my D2X sound-card is currently sitting in a x16 slot atm.

Got the card today and its sitting in the x16 slot aswel and running like a charm! Got to say this creative card is a beast! The LEDS are a little dazzling though so did a black electrical tape mod lol

If it's in one of the x16 slots you've probably dropped both slots down to x8.

Ah yeaaa i didn't think of this! How would that impact performance on my gpu?

I assume this is for the system in your sig?

Using the second x16 slot will drop the speed of the first slot to x8 but you probably won't notice any difference in performance.

Why not put the sound card in the black x4 slot as you were planning originally?
