Will God accept you if you renounce religion?

Why would one presume to need evidence for something not existing?

The main reason why I asking hurf this question is because he has highlighted the importance of evidence supporting a particular belief. He has a very strong belief that there is no God therefore I am only asking for some additional information on what form this evidence takes.

So Aside from quoting Gervais and Asimov don't you have your own opinion on this?

You believe there is no God and suggested Jason2 is mentally ill for his alternative view.

Asimov states "I'll believe in anything... if there is evidence for it". Since you provided this quotation can I assume then that your belief that there is no God is built on some evidence?

What do you think the chances are I have zero opinions of my self are, or that I just can't be bothered to type as effort posting in GD is daft so I just use pictures from else where? Don't be so disingenuous, it makes you look like your arguing in bad faith and you are already on the back foot already.

Stamp collecting is a hobby, not stamp collecting is not a hobby.
Is not playing baseball a sport?
Is "not being an auto mechanic" a trade or vocation?
Is a non-smoker addicted to not smoking?

Atheism is akin to just not collecting stamps, Theism is akin to collecting stamps.

You are being destroyed like your fellow theist Jason2

I love this "give us evidence" line. You do know that Science operates on basic assumptions about our world? For example, science assumes that there are natural causes for things that happen in the world around us. I jump up in the air, I fall back to down to earth. Science assumes that there is natural explanation for why I fall back down once I'm in the air. They call this mavity, yet what mavity is exactly remains elusive.

Remains 'elusive'? To whom? Simpletons who can't get their head around a natural force that attracts a body towards any other physical body having mass?

Just because you can't fathom how any natural phenomena can exist without a magic man in the sky controlling it, doesn't mean the people who study it can't.

Seems like you've seen this meme and not understood the joke...

Great description. I'm amazed by how hard people find this to understand.

I don't think I have said anything in this thread that suggests I am a theist. Neither was I aware that I am in an argument.

I'm genuinely interested to find out what evidence supports your solid belief in the non-existence of God. The images you linked to clearly suggest the need for evidence for belief.

There is zero evidence of a god, apart from what man has created.

There is however plenty of scientific facts which prove otherwise. Now regardless of the fact that this scientific evidence has also been made by man, it holds far more weight than a work of fiction.

You can't say for 100% certain that there is no god until you find evidence for it. However, the chances of there actually being one, based on the evidence we have is incredibly low.

Appreciate your input but I'm asking here about the evidence for hurfs non-belief in God.

Since you mention it, I'd be very keen to know why you think that science is the correct tool to use to provide the answer to a metaphysical question?

I'm sure if you were to do some research you'd find that Christians would suggest that there is evidence for the existence of God outside of the Bible but that's another issue.

I'm a dragon. Where is your evidence that I'm not?

Will you believe that I am a dragon until you research me and prove that I'm not. Or will you (like a normal person) assume I'm not a dragon until I prove that I am?

A better example, I got a letter through the post last week saying I'd won the Nigerean lottery. Should I just blindly believe it and send off the release fee they are asking for until I have evidence it's a scam or should I assume it's a scam and ask them for more proof I have indeed won the money they said I have?

This doesn't answer my question though. Hurf appears certain that there is no God? All I'm asking is what evidence he bases that on.

Isn't belief in a god a belief in a physical superior being with thoughts feelings and judgements? I'm unsure how you can describe it as metaphysical.

What are you talking about? I was merely making a point that, contrary to popular belief, Science makes assumptions. If any one of these assumptions are false, the whole of Science falls apart.

And of course mavity exists. I never said it didn't. I'm one who argues that these laws are evidence for a creator. So please be quiet.

No it doesn't. It's happened in the past, new theories were formed.

Once again, you've elected to ignore other posts giving convincing arguments as to why you're wrong
