Cheap 42" TV's

I believe the Panasonic TX-P42X50B can be had for as low as £269 currently. Not great specs but seems to have a pretty solid following of supporters singing its praises.

The only reason why I ask is I remember the Samsung 42" that we bought 4 years ago was close to £1500.

Are the 2 above TV's poor quality or have TV's in general come down in price?

They are basic large screen tv's and thankfully the technology has gotten cheaper to produce. Picture wise I would have a look at reviews online, shouldnt take long to work out which gives the better picture and im sure you wouldn't be disapointed with either of them

No Smart, No 3D, limited connectivity. Oh and the Plasma is only 720p res.

Prices have dropped due to economies of scale on the larger screen sizes.

Smart features are not very good anyway tbh.

They're a bit redundant with many homes having a console which can run most of the apps on the typical Smart TV platform such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Netflix etc.

Most useful bit on my TV is the media player functionality.

I bought the LG one for Xmas..Everything looked like Plastic Dolls (plastiky) to my eyes. would have prefered a 37" but for some stupid reason they not making them now. I hate Plastick Faces and pixels.

I have managed to make the picture look lots better. A friend of mine gave me the details of how to change a few things in the settings.

Sound is low (am slightly deaf in one ear) even at 90 setting. lol. Tried to get sound through my Hi-Fi stacker system but it will not do it for some reason. Using composit leads. Red/White/Yellow etc. from TV to Hi-Fi. My WD TV HD box works Great and Movies are Excellent on it. I think these large TV's were really made for Games not Pictures as we know it..JMHO. Not a bad TV.

I find these TV's to be too big for rooms where you sit about 6ft/8ft away. Need to be 12ft away really. Not a Great lover of large TV's.
