Hi, so I am planning on replacing the thermal compound on my 7950 TF3 as the temperatures are a bit high for my liking. I was wondering what type I should use? I was thinking MX-4 as it seems to be high performing, but also non-conductive (which is what puts me off AS5). Thanks :)

I was thinking of changing the GPU thermal paste on my Sapphire 7950.

I thought I need a two part thermal adhesive compound like :

Can you just use a non adhesive compound (I think I have some arctic silver somewhere)

Any tips? I have fitted many CPU coolers but never took apart a graphic card. My 7950 at 1100 / 1400 runs at 78 degrees while playing BF3.

that thermal adhesive is for gluing on ramsinks, which you would do if you were installing an aftermarket cooler.

if you're just re-doing the paste on the gpu with the standard cooling then any thermal paste will do but I would stick with something non conductive.

@ thread I also use MX-4. Have also used gelid and random xspc stuff on an older gpu.
