Gandalf: Worst wizard ever?

As he say's in the books (LOTR) he dare not use his powers because it would be like lighting up a beacon to all who can read the signs (nazgul, sauron and others ) here is Gandalf.

in regards to return of the king I assume he's saving his energy for the confontation with the witchking.

Seriously, just watching the movies on tv this week and the dude doesnt cast a single spell. No fireballs, no lightning bolts, he has a bright light on his staff and thats it? Does he actually do anything in the books since in the films he just comes across as some doddering old goat getting in the way of things.

Is there a worse wizard in movie history? Neville (harry potters) would whip his ass!

Dude, he smashes up a balrog, takes on a Witch King (totally against the odds) and gets stoned all the time. Can you get any cooler. What does Harry $(%*"_"+!!*£*% do???

Well that's cool, so long as there's a reason. He's more of a knowledge base then than a power base. I never got through the books, as soon as people started singing i nodded off.

Wow, I'm virtually celibate at the moment (the wife is up the barn with blood) but I've got more tang under my fingernails than you wizard botherers have ever had.

This could be amazing.

Why do you post in these threads when you don't offer any opinion or anything? It's just little comments like this pretty much most the time.

Anyway, OT I sort of agree. I wasn't really big on LoTR I find it really hard to get into and to understand.

I give you the most annoying wizardly type character to grace our existence, people who know...will understand.

.

Post count ++, plus plenty of "witty" comments from the looks of it.

Got the bluray box set at christmas, have to start going through them.

thought he was the best wizard i've ever seen tbh. he's a good fighter in rotk, and fights using magic only when he has to.

have you understood any of lotr? power doesn't come from using it, but knowing when not to use it, same as courage and choosing not to kill golum etc

in all 4 films i'd say gandalf is the key character who literally does everything important to set events on a path that will lead to victory, and he did most without using a single spell, which to me is the real magic

I'm with this man.

Gandalf is a key character and I wouldn't have had him any different.

Rand Al'Thor could kick all their asses. But then again he is the Dragon Reborn, not a wizard. Pug can kick some ass as well.

Time for an obscure reference if you want a more useless wizard - Fizban.

I'm trying, but you are making it really hard.

Yep, I'm getting there, this feels nice.

eeeeuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

When you read the books, it is down to your imagination on how the spells appear. Each to their own and all that, but there will bound to be disappointment from some fans and enjoyment from others when they watch the film versions.

he shouted and stamped his staff, one lightning bolt to balrog nads and its all over!

He was better with his sword than spells. Just feeling a bit let down over the guy.

Twas a magic sword, and he did have an elven ring of power iirc, he had the third one, the film suggested that the lord of the wood had one, which wasn't accurate, the shipwright Elven lord gave his to Gandalf I think.

Anyway blast of light from the hand, chased all those naughty Nazgul away when Gondor really needed it.
