HIS IceQ 7950 Boost Heaven Score too low?

Yeah, i thought that might be it, i think whats happening is its throttling back the boost as its getting to hot, getting up to 80c is pretty high, to high.

It shouldn't get to that temperature, unless you live in a sauna... are the fans spinning up properly, have you got the fan speed monitor enabled in MSI OSD? what % is it reading under load?

Boost edition cards have a voltage of ~1.25V as default which could explain the higher temperatures.

AFAIK the cards don't throttle all the way up to 100c at which point they practically stop.

My faulty MSI TFIII card reached 100c in the top slot and throttled down in a Heaven run :D.

Ah ok, i think 100c would give me a heart attack, i freaked out when mine was reading 78c during BF3 because the bloody fans had not spun up from idle :o

Thank you so much Rusty0611, following LtMatt's guide and installing the 12.11 beta drivers has rectified the issue. No more jumping clock speeds and just ran Heaven using 1100 / 1500 settings and scored much better:

Also increased the power limit, though I don't think that was the issue.

Max temp was 77c on the above run. I am using a Coolermaster Elite 330 case (which I desperately need to replace). Plus my house is usually very hot due to the other half always having the heating on!

Now that's more like it....

Yep, much happier now. :)

One thing I have noticed though since installing 12.11 beta, I cannot get into CCC. It comes up with an error, 'Could not load file or assembly 'CLI.Implementation' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified'.

Is this normal?

Woohoo! That's more like it.

No worries at all :)

All I need to do now is sort my terrible case cooling out. :D

Elite 330 is just about as wrong a case as you can have for your rig.

I use them to build budget rigs, its about all they are good for (with respect)

If your looking for a new one;- http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-301-CM&groupid=2362&catid=29&subcat=

Is a very good case, and your not going to find any other as good for that money.

Its what i use for my rig, airflow is excellent, its well made with good cable routing and has plenty of room inside.

Lol, yes I know. Had the case for years, from a really old build.

Thought I would need to replace it as didn't expect 7950 to fit in, but it did.

Just took the side off my case to allow more air whilst playing BF3 with 1100 / 1500 (Ultra settings). Max temp now only about 60c.

Need a new case without a doubt. :D

Sorry, I should have linked!

Here it what it should look like in Heaven. With the settings shown there, I'm scoring just short of 2000.

I've tried the settings above and I can't get mine stable at those figures. I've done all the steps in the guide listed too. Also Voltage never changes from 1.081.

I'm running Xfire 7950 HIS ICEQ Boost, and when I set to those values Heaven crashes. Best I seem to do is 1020 and 1450 with just the power limit set to max.

Any ideas whats wrong?

Not sure as I'm pretty new to overclocking myself. Somebody on this forum will be able to help you though I'm sure. :)

Sounds like the voltage isn't stepping up.
