If i buy from apple direct is the Iphone 5 4g proof?

i keep hearing if i go buy one from o2 on contract or cpw simfree or somewhere simfree then it most likely wont be.

should i just buy it from apple.

thanks

I think someone has been telling you porkies mate. If you buy from Apple the phone will be unlocked and will work with any network. If you buy from O2 it will only work with O2, if you buy from CPW then it will initially be unlocked but will become locked to the first network you use the iPhone with. You would then have to get the phone unlocked if you wished to change network.

Nothing to do with 4G mate.

4G on the iPhone 5 will only work on EE, so even if you got it from apple you'd only be limited to one network even after the other 4G networks start rolling out.

This is pretty much right, I would have added that Three/02/Voda will be rolling out a Another version of the iPhone5 which supports their 4G bands.

So yes it very much does relate to 4G, and the fact the only one you can get your hands on at the moment will work on EE and no other networks.

Apple may or may not produce another version of the iPhone 5 that works with whatever 4G bands these companies are able to get hold of. I find it unlikely though.

You will probably need a iPhone 5S or 6 to get 4G on any network other than EE in the future.

Actually yes that is a good point, and does make more sense. Really depends just how long things take to move over to 4g for the other networks, and demand. There are very little actual facts on the internet relating to this.

What this guy says but it should also work on Three from Sept 2013 as they purchased 1800Mhz 4G Spectrum from EE which the 5 already supports.
