Recommended monitor.....?

I'm currently using a 22" Samsung for editing photo's (RAW's) in Lightrooms v3 and I'm beginning to wonder if it is too small and needs to be more around the 27" mark:

I'd probably add a Dell Ultrasharp (24") as a second monitor over one 27"

Would it not be better to get a monitor with HDMI, or would DVI-D be more than enough. I also play PC game as well as photography.

DVI-D is basically the same as HDMI, it just doesn't carry sound (at least, that's the only major difference)

That makes finding a monitor much easier. I've not looked to much into it to be fair. Thanks.

If your 22" was 1080p your not even gaining anything but the ability to move the monitor further away. If you keep the monitor the same distance away then it will look bigger but worse (It will have a low DPI).
Personally I went with a 27" thunderbolt display but if your a pc user then this is pretty much the best screen to get I'm told.
I was looking at such a screen myself and found one in the £6XX region. But there are also many cheaper but good alternatives.
These screen have a resolution of 2560x1440 and thus have a higher DPI (images/text look crisper and sharper/less jaggies etc.)

WOW! If only I had that amount of cash. What would you recommend for sub £300? Quite like the look of the 24" Dell Ultrasharp which KD spec'd.

Buying 24" 1080p's isn't going to make much difference either.

I think I read these cheaper screens actually use the same panels (LG) as apple use in their thunderbolt/cinema display. Not certain about that so you should consult review.

Monitors last years and has a significant influence on how we enjoy computers/hobbies.. so imo it's not the best area to save money.

I'm keeping my options open, needs to be sub £300.

Then I would wait until it doesn't have to be sub £300. Else your just wasting money on screens that won't make much difference, thus it won't be long before you want to upgrade again, then you will have wished you had spent an extra £60.

I cant warrant spending that amount of money on a monitor, hence the budget.

You need to see the difference in person and you'll realise it is worth the £60 extra.

If you are playing games or just surfing then spend what you want but if you are doing something that needs accurate colours then you need something that give accurate colours.

Find that £60.

No offence mate, but I doubt there will be many that don't recommend finding or saving an extra £60. That in itself should tell you what is the best route forward.

Personally I think your being very short sighted, but then it's your money to waste...

Maybe, but some should appreciate that not all have money to burn and £250/£300+ is a lot to spend on a monitor for others.

It will be worth it.

Also, look online for best price, use cashback sites, etc.
