looking for a decent 27" 1080p monitor

I'm looking for a 1080p 27" to add to my collection of monitors, mainly because running games @ 3240x1920 is fairly graphics hungry, and a lot of old games, and some new games fail to meet my computer's minimum requrements because of portrait eyefinity. Out of games, i find this setup and screen space really useful for programming and other general stuff, however i'm looking for a decent 27" screen to use for games as then i will get higher frame rates and allow for higher settings at a native resolution.

before anyone asks, yeah my gpu supports 4 monitors (i have a TV temporarily plugged in)

i'd prefer a screen that has thin bezels, although anything not overly huge will do, and it also NEEDS to have a vesa mount on the back otherwise the mounting mechanism i will use will not work.

I am looking at the possibility of 120hz for an option of really smooth gaming, or 3D, but 3D is not 100% necessary.

Yes, very solid. This monitor, out the box, was terrible, however I followed the very good guide in the review which helped me to calibrate the hardware and then used one of the profiles (user) for the graphics card settings. Was so impressed with the picture I didn't need to tweak any further. Cracking deep blacks and great contrast as well. :)
 
Bought one for my nephew, haven't had a chance to set it all up as of yet.

But a cracking monitor for the price, for sure.
 
Sorry for hijacking this thread a little, but how are you finding 1080p @ 27"? Does anything look stretched at all? I currently have a 27" Yamakasi which is 1440p but I fear it's on its way out soon so I'm starting to look at alternatives.

nothing is really looking stretched, especially in games when they are full screen you don't really notice any stretching. i guess it's down to personal opinion though. i'm used to eyefinity 3x23" 3240x1920 and when looking between the two there is a noticeable scale increase, but something you get used to when you aren't comparing the two. it should look like a sharper version of your 2560x1440 screen at a 1920x1080 res. the extra desktop space of 1440 is useful though.
 
If you want a 1080p monitor for gaming go for 120/144hz 24 inch monitor, 27 inch monitors are best suited to 2560x1440. I would never part with my Asus PB278Q after recently going through a similar dilemma on which monitor to buy.

yes, money no object. If I could have got a 1440p monitor 27" for £180 then yes. My BenQ GW2750HM is a compromise, I find 1080p on 27" absolutely fine and this monitor having the Led VA panel means its almost as good as an Ips and almost as fast as TN, 4ms no input lag, great colours and picture once calibrated. I have to be honest, out of the box it was terrible but there is a great review and guide at TFT Central which turned this monitor into a superb buy. I got it on TWO for £180, I think its currently £210. Great value. :)

Thanks for replying I had a look but don't suppose you could point me to the thread where they mentioned the deal, can't find it anywhere where it says you get 2 for that price.
